I am using Dragon Naturally Speaking preferred 10 and I understand that there is a new version, Dragon Naturally Speaking 11, which has received mixed reviews; see Know-brainer forum.

Evidently, the most important single factor in voice-recognition is the quality of the microphone and I am operating now with a Sennheiser but not of the top-of-the-line. Another important factor is the pace and clarity of the dictation and I grant my performance there is spotty, often affected like my blood pressure by the latest depredation done by the left.

Sometime ago I bought the German version but the software is defective because it can not understand one word I utter although my kids' dictation is understood perfectly well. I think I will try the English 11 version because hope springs eternal.

My guess is they thought they could go forward with a domestic agenda, move away from Israel and appease the Muslim word, and their plans have failed and they have no plan "B".

rumor has it that US foreign policy mechanism is in shambles, they are admitting to some US reporters off the cuff that they have NO idea what is happening, nor NO idea how to manage it, nor NO idea how far it is going. In other words, they know as much as you or I.

More theatrics than anything else. Since about two-thirds of the ambassadors are career officers and almost all of the consulate heads are, I don’t understand why it is necessary for them to be physically present. We have teleconferencing and cables to communicate with one another.

I am sure, given the logistics involved, that the meeting was planned well before the Egyptian crisis. I suspect that it is the Wikileaks issue. But there is also an idea that has been circulating around the State Department even when I finished working there 10 years ago, i.e., a Quadriennal Review of foreign policy similar to what DOD does.

I am sure that the State Department knows that cuts are on the way and that getting more resources from Congress is going to be problematic. They have to have a party line and strategy to deal with the looming battle ahead with Congress.

The Ambassadors themselves in many cases are pursuing contrary directions to that of the US instead of representing the best interests of the US! Hence for years the US has been hamstrung in foreign policy by these weasels in the foreign service and presidents, both Dem and Repubs have been partially blinded! That needs to stop!

The Ambassdors are not independent agents who are untethered from Washington. They are told for the most part what to say and do by Washington. If they go off the reservation, they are removed. They are the President's personal representatives. I say that advisedly having served 28 years in the State Department as a foreign service officer.
