The flag and Constitution are all of 1776-fame and “original”.

But the pledge comes up in 1892 when folks got hyper that we needed a oath. In most areas of the US...it’s thirty years later when the topic of the pledge starts to be raised because everyone believes that people need a oath to establish their alliance to the US. Somehow, we survived well over 100 years...without a pledge or oath. I’m not going to go anti-pledge but sometimes we might want to stand back and look at how things came to be in the first place.

Kim said that she believes it is a personal decision of how to honor the flag and country and has been surprised by the criticism.
Either lying or stupid (or both). Thanks NoRedTape.

The pledge of allegiance is not just "to the flag of the United States of America. It is also "to the Republic for which it stands."

"I don't think our flag represents a nation where there's liberty and justice for all," argued Kim.
Go back to China.

Frankly, I’m amazed they even say the Pledge. Did they tweak the words to it or is it the real deal?

A strange but all-too-predictable phenomenon--whenever a new SF Supervisor is sworn in, they have to out-"left" their comrades on the board.

Jane Kim now has SF city government's version of street "cred."

Maybe she prefers the offical Sin Freak Sicko pledge:

I pledge allegiance to the f*g, of the city of Sodom and Gomorrah
And to my domestic partner and all his glands,
Two buggerers on top of each other, indivisible
With feces and gerbils for all!

To NoRedTApe:

re Kim having street “cred”. If you break the word “cred” down, you will found out who she is - “c” “red”.

Give the Devil her due. She is saying what every single one of those supervisors think. The enemy you know is better than the enemy you don’t know.

And perhaps Ms. Kim should tell us which country does represent liberty and justice for all—and then pack her bags and move there.

I thank you for expressing that. It is an ideal that we all should be working towards. But, when the liberals don’t know right from wrong, then we have a problem. Right from wrong is relative to them. What is right for the liberals is always right, what is right for the conservatives is always wrong. Just my 2 cents worth...
