Yeah I noticed that , too. Onboard magnetic compass deviation, perhaps?
BTW, merely switching a minus sign from the upper left quadrant to the corresponding value in the lower right quadrant of the matrix used in the "convolution" will switch those apparent "grooves" into "ridges". And enlarging the matrix from 3X3 to 5X5 or 7X7 or larger will "blur" the result...
FWIW, Google Earth images are" lighted" from the uper left -- to enhance the mind's application of the "crater effect" (Google it) to simulate three-dimensionality.
