Things should have been nice and chummy at CPAC an hour ago. Dick Cheney strolled on stage to cheers and the inspirational tune of Tina Turner’s “Simply the Best” and got began to present the “Defender Of The Constitution” award to Donald Rumsfeld. However, as the chants of “USA! USA!” died down, a voice screaming “War criminal!” could be heard. And then, as Cheney continued to talk up his former colleague, a shouting match began between supporters of Ron Paul and the rest of the convention hall.
The Paul supporters eventually walked out in the middle of Rumsfeld’s speech as way of protest. Talking Points Memo managed to nab a quote from one of them:
“‘Uh, Defender of the Constitution?’ Justin Bradfield of Maryland scoffed when I caught up with him after he walked out of Rumsfeld’s speech. ‘Let’s see: he expanded the Defense Department more than pretty much any other defense secretary and he enforced the Patriot Act.’‘[Speaking] as a libertarian, that’s not really the type of person who should be getting Defender of the Constitution,’ he added.”

Ron Paulers can be just as much a part of the “enemy” as any Democrat. Until you have seen these Paul supporters in action, in person, it might be difficult to understand, but they have made a concerted effort to take over the GOP in WA state and tried for two years in a row to disrupt the state convention and make sure that nothing got accomplished. One of our local Paulers had to be asked to leave.
I've never read anything directly attributable to Paul that was antisemitic, but go to his website and read some of the commentaries and you'll find that antisemites feel free to express themselves at his site.
And I've reached a point where I no longer consider support of Israel as foreign aid, but more as a part of our national defense, which does fall under the responsibilities of our federal government.
Paul's non-interventionism is profoundly naive. It would be a beautifully gift wrapped package to all the despots in the world who have no problem with intervening into other countries governments, and give them the green light to set up puppet regimes. All for the stated purpose of destroying America.

The Continental Congress didn't seem to have a problem authorizing tribute treaties with Morocco, Algiers, Tunis, and Tripoli...also known as the Barbary States...in the late 1700's. In the end, millions of dollars was spent, much of it borrowed.
Constitutionally speaking, there is likely no operation difference between tribute and aid.
I'd be interested to hear Ron Paul or one of his supporters address this point.

We're having the same problem in CO.
In WA, the Paulers ran Clint Didier as a primary challenger to Dino Rossi and he received a lot of early support, until people began to realize that he was aligned with the Libertarians and Ron Paul. Ron Paul’s extreme foreign policy and attitude toward the military is a deal breaker for me.
I think that we have to look hard at some the TEA Party people because I think that the Libertarians actually started the TEA Party and the rest of us just joined them. It worries me for 2012. I believe that many of the Freepers from WA state are Libertarians, not necessarily conservatives.
