Rick Santorum discovered this week what nearly all the other GOP presidential candidates already know you dont mess with Sarah Palin.
Santorum touched off a media firestorm Tuesday with remarks that appeared to denigrate Palin, and the response from the former Alaska governor and her supporters was swift and unforgiving. The episode proved instructive: Not only is the Republican outline against Palin taking shape, but so too is the Palin outline for how shell fight back.
With Palin looming as a possible contender for the GOP nomination, the question of how or whether to take her on is a delicate one for her fellow Republicans.
In Santorums case, the former Pennsylvania senator got into trouble in a web-radio interview with conservative commentator S.E. Cupp. While his recent jibes at Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour landed without much notice, Santorums Palin comments blew up in his face.
Asked why he thought Palin wasnt attending the Conservative Political Action Conference, he responded: I have a feeling that she has some demands on her time, and a lot of them have financial benefit attached to them. He added that Palin had other business opportunities as well as all these kids to look after as a mother, both of which caused constraints on her time.
Though Santorum later insisted otherwise, his comments seemed to imply that Palin was more interested in cashing in on her celebrity than running for office, a critique rarely voiced in public by Republican officials. And his mention of her children an especially freighted reference only compounded the situation.

Politico will create conflict where none exists.
Not.
I am no fan of Santorum, but this is pure MSM-generated BS. I don't see either Santorum or Palin having a serious problem with each other, other than they both might covet the same desk chair.
You know what would be great.
A picture of someone jamming a screwdriver into an empty sparkplug hole.
What is really crazy is that Republicans could stop farting around with Romney and Huckabee, both unelectable, and fall in behind Palin and take her to the White House.
Instead they are killing any chance of winning by trying to put losers forward.
Palin can win but not with all of those knife wounds in her back.
These old line RINO’s are killing America’s chance for a Republican President because of jealousy ,ego, power trips, and fear a woman might be better than they are.
They aren't listening, as usual, but it better change!
Bingo.
“Everything would be great if she would just go away, and we could get back to business as usual!”
Rick, Rick, Rick...
You should learn to win your own homestate senate seat, before taking on a national figure.
Come to TN and we will show you what happens when u can’t win your own home state...CAN U SAY AL GORE..the NON-PRESIDENT!
Hey, where did you get that :)
(Shhhh....I had it hidden....)
What is the matter with Santorum? He has a ton of kids too but he keeps the “little woman” home, to tend to them. Ya know Rick, women can be mothers and have a career!
Why is he bashing her? I thought he had the same conservative values that she has. What is he afraid of?
Nicely phrased. I think Rick has often acted pretty stupidly and this delusion about running for President is making the condition even more acute.

Politico is trash and trying to tell Sarah Palin supporters and other conservatives to shut up. Well, we wont shut up. We will have a healthy debate and not allow the LSM to pick our candidates.
Not very good for Santorum
I just listened to the comments. They were not ghastly but they were a teensy bit snide and dismissive of Sarah.
Not a good look, Rick.
The media didn’t create Palin’s support base. Liberals didn’t either. Nor did rinos, trolls on this site, or anyone else but Palin herself.
These fools don’t know it, but they can’t touch her.
