CBS News says that correspondent Lara Logan was attacked and sexually assaulted last Friday in Cairo’s Tahrir Square while filming a piece for “60 Minutes.”
From the CBS News statement:
On Friday February 11, the day Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stepped down, CBS Correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a 60 MINUTES story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into a frenzy.
In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers. She reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning. She is currently in the hospital recovering.
There will be no further comment from CBS News and Correspondent Logan and her family respectfully request privacy at this time.

My wife and I were talking about this last week. Everything is sexual assault. That covers everything from groping to violent rape. I think it allows media to cover for their pals like Rothelsberg, Kobe, Clinton..... Or maybe they think we can't handle it. Kinda like video from 9-11.

That’s a bit harsh. Nobody deserves this. She is a human being. She has family, a mother and Father, maybe siblings. Would you want this to happen to your family? I don’t care what she has said or done in the past, I hope she can heal from this, physically, mentally, and spiritually. And you should be ashamed of yourself.

Well, we are in agreement then. Women can serve perfectly well in combat as long as the enemy agrees never to injure them.

I often say, if Hitler had only had the prescience to make Nazism into a religion, we’d all be speaking German today.
I’ll venture saying that for the compensation she is receiving (in the $$$ millions per year) the lady (?) is well aware of and accepts the risks.
That's just the kind of statement that keeps us immobile.
I forget how I came about having this question in my head, but 20 or so years ago I was challenged ... "When you talk to yourself, what do you say?"
We have been SO conditioned to say, "Yeah, but .. ", that the enemies of America just move right in.

We need to be a little more adamant in our stand for certain things.
