Obama joins Wisconsin's budget battle, opposing Republican anti-union bill

MADISON, WIS. - President Obama thrust himself and his political operation this week into Wisconsin's broiling budget battle, mobilizing opposition Thursday to a Republican bill that would curb public-worker benefits and planning similar protests in other state capitals. Obama accused Scott Walker, the state's new Republican governor, of unleashing an "assault" on unions in pushing emergency legislation that would change future collective-bargaining agreements that affect most public employees, including teachers.

The president's political machine worked in close coordination Thursday with state and national union officials to get thousands of protesters to gather in Madison and to plan similar demonstrations in other state capitals.

I don’t understand why they were waiting/looking for the Dem Senators in Wisc in order to vote. Wouldn’t there be some sort of quorum figure in that body that would allow the Repubs to simply convene and vote whatever they wanted? I never did understand your State procedures.

Should we put the missing Senators on the back of milk cartons yet? Best chance to find them is usually within the first 48 hours. Time’s a wasting...

Impeach Obama!!! He and his Democrat Party are destroying the economic base of America!!!

The people that are protesting are the ones destroying the economic base of America. Nothing but a bunch of G.D. leaches. THEY and their ilk are the reason we are where we are.

"How the hell can this be a smart political move for Obama?"

He's bought and paid for by unions. He has to do this.

What’s lying beneath the surface of all this is that Wisconsin was a dem leaning state for years, and moved dramatically GOP in the last election.

Wisconsin is a state that is absolutely critical to the 2012 Obama re-election. That’s why he and his political organization are organizing these protests and busing in a rentamob for the tv cameras.
They are also under orders to wear no blue shirts as to attempt to hide their political alliance. They have been told to wear red shirts to present the false image that they aren’t biased towards the democratic party and neutral in their politics.

The President of the United States sends his private mercenary army to attack the elected officials of one of the states and the Washington Post reports it as a good thing?

The Post is a fully-owned subsidiary.

WHEN ARE WE GOING TO WAKE UP AND TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK? When??

When this seasons American Idol is over? When the end of football, baseball, basketball, soccer, checkers, etc, etc, etc season is over?

The relative few that WILL take America back will have to sacrifice everything! That may include going to jail, having their property taken, their bank accounts looted by the IRS. You name it.

They shall rue the day. It's comin.

They need one, and only one, of the Dems present for a vote to have the quorum.

They’ve called a general strike without calling it a general strike.

All the Republicans have to do is absolutely nothing. And eventually the general strikers will lose everything.

And let me tell you. The fact that all these teachers are claiming “sick” so they can continue to get paid and then all showing up protesting at the state capitol, while children are forced to stay home is not going to be sitting well with the parents (most of who work in the private sector are probably disgusted at the teacher pay rates and benefit numbers that were released this week).
The longer Obama and dems push this, the more they risk another dem slaughter in 2012, including Obama losing the state in his election. I’m sure Obama and his cronies know exactly where all the dem senators are located right now. And they will be under orders not to return to the state until told too by their DNC handlers.
