(CARSON CITY — Sen. Harry Reid on Tuesday called for “an adult conversation” about prostitution in Nevada, saying it is an impediment to economic development because it discourages businesses from moving here.

“Nevada needs to be known as the first place for innovation and investment – not as the last place where prostitution is still legal,” he said in a speech to the Nevada Legislature.

Reid told the assembled lawmakers that he met recently with a group of business leaders who run data centers for technology companies. They visited Storey County in search of a new location for their businesses but “one of the businessmen in that meeting told me he simply couldn’t believe that one of the biggest businesses in the county he was considering for his new home has legal prostitution

No prostitute would agree to have sex with Harry no matter how much money he offered.

Even hookers have their standards.

If only we had the right candidate against him in 2010 this idiot would be gone. What is amazing is the Dem. Senate keeps him as Majority Leader. Every time he opens his mouth he puts his foot in it. I would think they would want him off the stage. Oh well, he will be after 2012 election and at that time Chucky Schumer can be MINORITY Leader.

Why would a whore want to outlaw whores?

Reid lives in typical leftist la-la land when it comes to business.

Where does he think vice laws rank in the list of considerations businessmen make in choosing a locale for their operations?

Now I’m just an academician with not business experience at all, but I’m willing to bet the top six (the exact ranking depending on the type of business) are availability of a suitable workforce, availability of necessary infrastructure (transport, etc.), proximity of sources of necessary resourses, proximity to markets (drop that one if the product is cheap to ship or a service distributed over the internet), local and state tax policies, and local and state labor policies.

I’ll also bet that there are at least a dozen other things an entrepreneur would weigh before even thinking, “maybe I don’t want to open up shop in that state because some counties have legalized prostitution.”

Politicians who are out and out cowards, gravitate to meaningless issues to avoid the horror of cutting spending or laying off federal workers.

I'll say it again.....COWARDS hide under non-issues.

They aren't looking to "eliminate prostitution"; they're prostitutes themselves in Washington.

What the ARE going to try to do is to TAX prostitution and/or regulate it to extract their "piece of the pie" from them workin' gals......

Harry took money from Joe Conforti, the original owner of the Mustang Ranch, for one of his first campaigns;

Government hates competition and politicians hate it even more. Guess Harry just wants to be the only one with the title of “Town Pump”.
