WASHINGTON- A coalition of 34,000 black churches is blasting President Barack Obama's decision to stop defending the federal law that bans recognition of gay marriage.

The Rev. Anthony Evans, who heads the National Black Church Initiative, says Obama "has violated the Christian faith" by failing to uphold Jesus' teaching that marriage is between a man and a woman.

As a result, Evans says black churches must "reassess their extraordinary support for him."

I’ve wondered what kind of support Obama will get from the black community in Chicago after backing Rahm over Carol Mostly-Fraud in Chicagos mayoral contest.

Yet they keep voting Democrat?!

Their website appears to suggest a new neither-party loyalty. While that would be a very positive change, one can't help but notice how the goals all appear to attempt to advance the cause of Blacks, and not of Americans in general.

Will they wake up to the fact that We Are All In This Mess Together??

Last year we went to a funeral at an all-black church in DC. There were pix of Obama all over the place. I almost expected to see an image of him on the cross. The separation of church/state doesn’t apply to those churches, apparently.

It is just that I find it very hard to believe there are 34,000 Black Christians in our country who would take a stand against Obama, let alone 34,000 black churches.

Keep an eye on DC and MD ...

The DC Council passed gay marriage OVER the objections of the black majority in DC. They then tried to get it on referendum in the last election - but got stuffed by the courts [something about signatures, I think]. It is still being litigated and still may go to referendum in 2012.

The MD State Senate just passed gay marriage and the State House is likely to pass it - Guv "Spineless" O'Malley has said he will sign it [what the hell does he care - he is term-limited]. This, again, OVER the objections of something like 70% of Marylanders [especially Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Prince George's County which are agout 75% black]. Will go to referendum in 2012.

Point being these are VERY religious people. "Brutha" or not, Obama is gonna take a MAJOR hit at the ballot box since he is goin' against the faith.

Oh, he'll still win MD - but NOT with 78% of the vote like in 2008. He'll win something like 54-46, which is INCREDIBLE in the blue, blue State of MD ...

“...and the blacks typically don’t like the gays horning in on their corner on affirmative action.”

The blacks don’t like ANY group horning in on their corner on affirmative action.

They “blast” but they’ll still vote Obama. It reminds me of Frederick the Great saying of Maria Theresa: She weeps (for Poland), but she takes her share too!

They will be told to get back in line, and the issue will be over.

I beg to be proven wrong.

Obama says he’s a Christian, but he doesn’t attend National Day of Prayer, doesn’t defend One Man, One Woman Marriage even though he says he still personally believes in it. Believes infanticide is OK, celebrates Muslim Holidays gleefully, reluctantly celebrates if at all Christian ones. Never talks about Jesus being his savior.

Not Much evidence he’s a Christian.

Blacks and Hispanics mostly are not supportive of the gay lifestyle. The preachers tolerate babies out of wedlock but not being gay.

I beg to differ. Not every predominately black church is located in the ghetto. There are many in upscale neighborhoods. 34,000 CHURCHES with alot of folk attending every single Sunday cause they do go to church, unlike their Caucasian counterparts who are Chriesters (attend only on Christmas and Easter).

POTUS Obama is going down in a massive defeat in November, 2012!!! The only way that can be avoided is if the Democrat Party forces him to resign or....bring impeachment charges against him. I doubt very much that those actions will take place. The Democrat Party will go down to electoral defeat across the board, along with POTUS Obama in November of 2012. But.....the real sector of the USA folks that will be set back as aresult of their blind support of failed POTUS Barack Hussein Obama will be Black Americans. Obama’s fifteen minutes of destructive fame will come to an end on election day next year. However, Black American citizens will be set back 50-100 years for supporting this ill equipped, incompetent, empty suit, failed POTUS!!! They should know better. Obama has done absolutely nothing for them across the board, on every issue that is important to our Black citizens. Shame and Sad, that these folks cannot see reality!!!

This means 94 percent of blacks still support this marxist unAmerican punk instead of 95 percent?

This is what happens when you have a “BIG TENT”. You have to anger one group to appease another.

Let him do it.

There are a lot of legalists out there who are also African American or ‘black’. There are also a lot of moralists out there in the black communities. When they combine religious tradition with their morality or legalist perspective focused upon other men rather than upon God, they tend to become groups which call themselves a ‘black church’.

The term ‘black church’, though, is an oxymoron when describing Christian thinking, for there is no Jew nor Gentile in the Church Age amongst believers.

My thoughts exactly. Yet the overwhelming majority of them will STILL vote for him. It's tragic, really, as many blacks are very devout in their faith.

Just say they won't support him anymore.

I'll believe that when I see it.

We’re not sure of anything. We have no proof of what he said, how he said it, or even if he said it. There should have been a video of the do-over, made available to all on whitehouse.gov and on Youtube. That he took the oath in private was the first sign that something was very very wrong.
