As the calls for clemency for Jonathan Pollard continue to intensify, Henry A. Kissinger, an elder statesman, well-respected diplomat, and experienced member of the United States intelligence community, has become the latest American governmental leader to issue a public call for Pollard’s release. Pollard has spent more than 25 years languishing in a federal prison for passing classified information to Israel, an ally of the United States.
Kissinger, who served as United States Secretary of State and National Security Advisor under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford, sent a letter to President Obama requesting that he commute Pollard’s sentence to time served (the full text of the letter appears below and a copy is attached).
Like former Congressman Lee Hamilton, who also recently called on the President to grant clemency to Jonathan Pollard, Kissinger has served as a member of the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, which is a nonpartisan and independent body of the Intelligence Community that has full access to the complete range of intelligence-related information. Kissinger was a member of the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board at the time of Pollard’s sentencing.

Matter of fact, there is speculation that Pollard was the one who took the fall for Ames.
The idea that you offer no explanation, and then state blythely that no matter who one can name who ratted out on his fellow Americans and caused death (and mayhem) and recieved little or no punishment while suggesting that Pollard was worse is extremely suspicious.

I think Walker did a lot more damage to us than Pollard did. Ron Pelton, who used to work for me, is still in prison for selling secrets to the KGB. Ron did some serious damage. He’s been in for over 25 years, and I don’t think he’ll ever breathe free air again.

That the former USSR does not exist anymore is not due to any action of the Israeli government, but despite it.
Pollard will never be pardoned.
Israel will never again be considered an allied nation worthy of special trust, as they once were, before their admitted involvement with Pollard.
Why do you play games here?
In less than five years, the reason Pollard will die behind bars as a convicted traitor to the USA will become declassified to the point of open knowledge.
There is no way Israel will come out of the whole affair looking like a true ally to the USA.
Perhaps that will clearly explain why many subsequent USA government administrations appear to be ambivalent towards Israel.

I don't think that at all. He is welcome to believe that Pollard is the worst of the worst. It does not make him a Jew hater, nor does your response make you one.
Unfortunately he offered no arguments to respond to my questions about Aldrich Ames and neither did you. So, as he responded to me, I also respond to you- "whatever".

You labeled it “Extremely Suspicious”. Why would you use a term like that? It’s like you KNOW the poster is guilty of something - or at least he APPEARS to be, and sometimes it’s the appearance of impropriety that is important, isn’t it?
You don’t remember your previous totally unsubstantiated accusations of antisemitism levied at me over the same topic. And why would you? You were in rare form.

Israel was never considered an "allied nation worthy of special trust". That is what is obvious from the history of the last four decades. Israel was supported for reasons of politics and politics alone. Obama has caved on much of his policies to force Israel into concessions due to domestic politics.
It is clear that Obama's first actions as president was to create physical danger to Israel. His very first call from the Oval Office was to Abbas. His policies are diametrically opposed to President Bush. He represents an organized movement that wants to enable the enemies of Israel and has done as much as he could with plausible deniability to bring some of the most extreme haters of Israel this country has into his administration.
Israel and Pollard not withstanding, many of these people are also connected with the world wide communist movement. This is not a 'progression' of a change of policy towards Israel, any more than the ramming of Obamacare was a 'progression'. The extremists in our midst saw their opportunity and have taken it. Part of that agenda is the destruction of the private sector along with our currency and yes, the emboldening of the enemies of Israel. This includes arming and training them. It includes with holding weapons systems already approved.
Ah. I could go on, but this subject goes far beyond Pollard.

Dr. Kissinger has placed Barry in an awkward position here.
If Barry grants clemency to Pollard, the entire U.S. Intelligence community goes ballistic [as is evidenced from the comments on this thread]. There is less than 1% chance of that happening.
However, if an Acting President Boehner would agree to that ‘deal’, then something might be in the ‘pipeline’.
If I were Barry, I would be very concerned about this ‘request’ from Dr. Kissinger.

In 2004 Brzezinski and Gates co-authored the Council on Foreign Relations paper Iran: Time for a New Approach.
Obama kept Gates as his Secretary of Defense--after Gates was the Secretary of Defense for Bush.
And the Director of Central Intelligence.
Brzezinski says now is not the time to destabilize Iran.

Who are Kissinger's clients. He would be acting on their interests. If the Saudis, how do they benefit from a placated Israel.
