The signs are that Mitt Romney is running for president. With several Republicans edging ever closer to formally declaring their presidential candidacies, Romney told New Hampshire Republicans on Saturday that he’s the candidate who can beat Barack Obama on the central issue of the economy.

I won't. Romney would be a disaster for conservatism because it would lead to the enactment of the liberal agenda under a supposed "conservative" and/or "bipartisan" fig leaf.
There is zero chance Romney can beat Obama in the general election -- despite my misgivings over certain other potential candidates, I can say that about none of the others. Romney's weakest points provide cover for Obama's weakest points, and the swing voters aren't going to pick Obama-lite when they have the real thing on the menu.
The biggest problem with Romney as GOP flagbearer is that it's going to be a tremendous weight tied to the ankles of the downticket races. No way doe the GOP reclaim the Senate with Romney as the candidate, and they'll do well just to hold the House. Plus statewide races, which would reverse the current change in tide in favor of Republicans.

I'm afraid you are correct. I had to hold my nose in 2008 to vote for McPain, but actually cast my vote for Gov Palin. If she hadn't been on the ticket, I'd have stayed home.
Didn’t we go through this in 2008? Mitt was supposed to be the front runner and then we all rejected him. Of course we sort of took a left hand turn nominating Juan Mcshame. Lets try not to do that again.

And I am ever grateful for that!! We had enough of his lying, whining, statist loving sycophants that last presidential primary season to last us a lifetime.
If Romney is the candidate, I pray we can take the senate and build on our majority in the house so we can impeach the rat bastard Obama before his second term gets up and running.
