WASHINGTON The House on Thursday voted to end federal funding to National Public Radio. Republican supporters said it made good fiscal sense, and Democratic opponents called it an ideological attack that would deprive local stations of access to programs such as "Car Talk" and "All Things Considered."
The bill, passed 228-192 along mainly partisan lines, would bar federal funding of NPR and prohibit local public stations from using federal money to pay NPR dues and buy its programs. The prospects of support in the Democratic-controlled Senate are slim. Seven Republicans broke ranks to vote against the bill.

Duh, WINNING!!
Reducing spending does not reduce the deficit? I guess I totally misunderstood my math professors.
quite honestly this to me is insignificant really. I would rather have them vote to defund Obamacare.
How come only 228 republicans sounds like we have some moderates in our ranks!

The House cutting muscles are flabby and weak. They need to be flexed, exercised, strengthened and beefed-up. Maybe even put on steroids. This NPR action is small, but puts them in the necessary mood, starts them in the right direction. OTOH, by letting it go without action, it weakens them. When ANY opportunity comes up to remove unconstitutional spending, they need to immediately gear-up, and ax it.
And in addition to that, they need to create opportunities for flexing cutting muscle and axing things as well.
.....small steps, Cards.
Thank you GA WTH..
is this rep a RINO or something?
Don't count on it. Telling the stations that the money they get from the government, which typically accounts for about 20% of their annual budget, can't be sent on the the network simply means that they'll juggle their accounts to show that all that money is going to pay overhead and other expenses and that the money to pay NPR is coming from a different bucket. The actual cuts have been minimal.
That’s nice, Pubies, but you forgot the:
