Dane County judge halts collective bargaining law
Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel ^ | 3/18/11 | Patrick Marley

Madison -- Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi issued a temporary restraining order Friday, barring the publication of a controversial new law that would sharply curtail collective bargaining for public employees.

Sumi’s order will prevent Secretary of State Doug La Follette from publishing the law until she can rule on the merits of the case. Dane County Ismael Ozanne is seeking to block the law because he says a legislative committee violated the state’s open meetings law.

Sumi said Ozanne was likely to succeed on the merits.

We know what to do...

First, we vote on April 5th. Bring a friend. Bring lots of friends to vote on April 5th.

Second, we flood Capitol Square on Apr 15th with Tea Partiers. We take back our Capitol from the union thugs, leftists, and antiwar freaks.

Third, we win the recall votes by wide margins, thus stopping any attempt by the Lefties to recall Walker.

Fourth, we tell Obama to keep his hands out of our state.

Wisconsin AG is an R.

Sec of State is a Dem, Doug LaFollette, son of Fighting Bob LaFollette, a union stooge who was run out of the Senate by Joseph McCarthy. Yes, that one.

Oh, the irony.

The Tea Party has been putting out information on them lately

Same here, our local TEA party has done an outstanding job of getting up to speed for 2010, and had all the leftist counties' judges evaluated and linked on their websites. The rural counties have less of a problem with leftist judges.

And we all know what “temporary” means. It’s measured in years.

A County Judge doesn't have the power to prevent the State from acting.

Sheesh, talk about hubris.

In fact, it's arguable that only the State Supreme Court can stop the State from acting on a law that is legally passed...and they have no way to enforce their order.

um, yeah
I suppose if I was to say Texas sucks, that would be okay too?
That’s just ignorant.
You can say Madison sucks and pity any conservatives who live there, but don’t be so ignorant as to say the whole of WI sucks.

Obama simply disregards any ruling he doesn't like. Then the press blows smoke, obfuscates, and attacks Sarah Palin until they can find something new to talk about.

The Dems left the state, but a judge still rules they are right. Governor Walker needs to tell the judge the ruling is outside their jurisdiction.

If our votes don't matter and the legislation passed can only become law when favored by Democrats, we have lost a lot more than our government and the entire system is fixed at every junction and little more than a bucket of rubbish.

Just from the look of that ugly mean-looking bad-ass beeeotch & you knew that this judge would rule against. One frikkin county judge can stop the entire state of WI and those who voted for Walker & the Repubs? I hope that Walker issues a firm rebuttal, declaring the judge’s ruling to be null & void, and therefore unenforceable. And Walker needs to start laying off gubmint workers AND if necessary, lock up the demoRATs in the state senate chambers for 24 hours and then pass the law again. RAT BASTARD DEMORATS.... I HATE ‘EM!

I don’t pity any Conservatives that live there... They are allowing this to happen. They are sitting back and letting the leftist thugs circumvent what the people voted for back in Nov....that crap would not fly down here.

I’m not ignorant of WI, I spent MANY of my summers in WI when I was younger I still have plenty of family in and around the state. Visit often... can’t say it’s special.
My father was born in WI, myself in TX.

Oh... Tell Walker to grow a pair and start the firings.

Absolutely 100% correct. The judge can make any ruling she wants. Let her enforce them.

It would be a great moment for Wisconsin and America if the governor said “Judge Maryann Sumi has made her decision. Now let us see if she can enforce it.” And went ahead his business.
