WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is getting ready to make one of Washington's worst kept secrets official: He wants a second term.

Democratic officials familiar with the plan say Obama will file 2012 campaign papers with the Federal Election Commission as early as this coming week.

It's a long-anticipated but formal step that will allow him to start raising money for the campaign, which will be based in Chicago.

The fundraising effort has begun. Obama raised $1.5 million at a Democratic fundraiser in New York City this past week and he'll headline events in the coming weeks in Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Obama raised an eye-catching $750 million for his 2008 campaign.

The officials asked not to be identified in order to speak before the re-election papers are filed.

“Obama Set to Launch Re-Election Bid. Yes folks, he wants a second term.”

But he won’t get one. It will be either Hillary or the Republican - and Obama won’t mind a bit.

Obama has done his job, but he’s damaged goods now. The best thing for him to step aside...and he knows that. I don’t know how the handoff to Hillary will work, but it WILL happen.

Mark my words,

BobL

Unemployment at 10% Gas prices doubled, foreign policy in a shambles, and food skyrocketing. Why wouldn’t he be proud of his accomplishments and run for a second term?

He is going to START campaigning??? When has he ever STOPPED??? The last two years of devastation have all been an continuation of his 2008 campaign. He believes in telling us, rather than showing us, how great he is. Of course, if all you had is a “C” game like he does, talk is about all he has.

I can hardly wait for the litany of lies and half truths that will spew from his muslim piehole about how well he has been doing and how the country is so much better off than we were under that evil Bush.

Maybe he can get Charlie Sheen to write for him, they are both so good at “winning”.

I disagree.

No matter how bad the economy or foreign policy Obama has high likability ratings and ALOT of people vote based on how they FEEL about a guy, NOT on policy. BEWARE !

On the stage, one against one, he is no slouch in a debate and will not be an easy push over. In fact he can cram for debates like a university student and is eloquent.

Mark these words.

Romeny is a dead-man politically if he gets the GOP nomination (Romney DEathCare), Huckabee never,Palin effectively politically spayed. The rest? There is no rest. Only Gov. Christie has a shot and he is no Classical Liberal/Conservative.

Who would do what they have done and not expect failure. I think it is on purpose. How could anyone be stupid enough to vote for a marxist fanatic?

Fool us once shame on you.
Fool us twice shame on us!

That Hope and Change thingie isn't gonna work a second time.
So what's it gonna be this time?
It's gonna be tough to top 18% real unemployment.

$4.10 gasoline.
Skyrocketing heating prices.
15% increase in food prices in 6 months.

The looming threat of runaway inflation.
What are we up to now? E27?
How are the printing presses holding out?
Ran out of 60s radicals and terrorists for advisors yet?

You've already answered the question : would the citizens of the US elect a muslim president incompetent in the basics of leadership, economics, and foreign policy?
Would they do it twice?

Rotsa Ruck!

Last time he threatened to sue any media who shone the light on him. This time around, he has destroyed so many jobs and lives there is no way he can hide that he is not good for America. Clinton got voted back in twice because of the economy. Obozo will be voted out because of the sinking economy not to mention the shock of his radical rule.

Most people will because they’re stupid. Everything that’s gone wrong or will go wrong for as long as the muslim is in the white house will be considered the republicans’ fault.

They’re already starting the crap that the recovery is happening but the republicans cutting spending will cause it to stop. Unfortunately, most people believe everything they hear in the media. Including Bill O’Rielly.

Does anybody know if there was any US President that was not nominated by their party even though he wanted to be re-elected? For some strange reason I just think that Obama might not get nominated by his party.

Campaigning is what Obama enjoys best.In his mind, governance is that inconvenient thing that happens between campaigns. That is why he ceded governance to his liberal allies in Congress for the last 2 years. Multitasking is not his forte.

You mean we really CAN spend ourselves out of a depression?

This should be interesting.

About the only thing I can think of that might arouse Americans into a "WW2" type frenzy of activity, creativity and production under conditions of sickness, deprivation and poverty is the Final Crusade and the permanent destruction of islam.

I'm in.

I don’t think that he is really that great in a debate, or in speech making for that matter. But the media that many voters pay attention to will shill like nobody’s business for the guy. He could stink up a debate and the MSM will call it perfume.
