Trump: Bush probably worst U.S. president [was pimping Hillary for Prez in 2007]

Trump: Bush probably worst U.S. president

Businessman and "Apprentice" television star Donald Trump blasted President George Bush today, calling him "probably the worst president in the history of the United States," and blaming his 2004 victory on the Democrat ticket.

Appearing on CNN's "Situation Room," Trump was asked by host Wolfe Blitzer his opinion of Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards.

"I don't know him," Trump answered. "People like him. I know people that like him very much, but I really don't know him."

Trump went on to say that Edward's experience as John Kerry's 2004 running mate was a negative in his estimation.

"Well, I think that's a huge negative, because that was a shame that that race was lost, because look what we have right now," Trump said. "It's a disaster. So, you know, I would probably be inclined not to like him on the basis that he lost an election that should have been won. That election should have been won."

Trump noted that the blame fell on Kerry as well.

"He's a friend of mine. But I'm so upset that he blew it," he said.

"I think Bush is probably the worst president in the history of the United States. And I just don't understand how they could have lost that election."

The entire transcript of Trump's interview with Blitzer can be read here.

Trump’s motives are so transparent. He blamed Bush for his bankruptcy instead of placing the blame where it belongs : himself.

>> Bush was a very crappy president

Compared to what?

Carter, Clintoon and Odumbo are very crappy presidents.

Bush is #2 behind Reagan since WW2, IMHO. At worst, #3 behind Reagan and Eisenhower.

So was McCain, and Bush himself. As well as Herman Cain I think. And many Freepers, at least grudgingly supported the first TARP.

The bank portion of TARP for all it’s horror actually turned out to be a net profit. I’m not saying it was right, but ended up a net profit.

Now, the Fannie/GM/etc part...well that’s a whole ‘nother ball of wax.

Katrina was not Bush’s mistake. The press covered for the Dem mayor and the Dem governor and pushed an agenda that many Americans fell for. Bush made some foolish choices but the main problem in that entire saga was the press - right down to their pretense that the people weren’t actually shooting at their rescuers. We watched history being re-written right as it was occurring.

Trump panders to knee jerk reactions but lacks real substance.

RE :”Trump’s motives are so transparent. He blamed Bush for his bankruptcy instead of placing the blame where it belongs : himself.

The LAST thing we need is another open borders-bank bailout-corporate government stimulus-pumping born millionaire as a Republican candidate. He is a just another corporate snake oil salesman who is trying to take advantage of the current vacuum to get on TV. He belongs back on The View with Rosey.

All we need is a expert in (personal business) bankruptsy in charge of a government that creates it's own money.

Wrong, wrong, and wrong. Katrina, in particular was not an error, at least in reaction to the crisis. Bush was in front of the problem while the idiot governor and mayor mishandled the situation entirely. If anything, it was a PR error for the White House.

Obama has run our economy into the ground. Bush maintained low unemployment, a great business environment, and pro-growth strategy. We saw a bad situation on the tail end of his second term, but that doesn’t erase otherwise historically good numbers during a time of multiple crisis - a falling economy when he entered the White House, 9/11, Katrina and a housing bubble many years in the making. Did Bush do everything right? Absolutely not, but he did a lot more things right than wrong. Comparing his time to Obama’s first two years of massive government expansion, crippling ant-business policies and international cow towing to commies and tyrants is simply incorrect.

Yup. However most big-business types donate to both sides. Trump has donated to Hillary AND McCain, to Gillibrand as well as Tom Coburn and George Allen.

It’s basically a way to keep a target off your back with regard to your business interests. A sad fact of today’s political world, but that’s what it is.

Trump , at best, is a moderate, slight left leaning Democrat or a very liberal RINO.

It’s been years since that happened. There have been some blips lately, but I think those were on businesses that bear his name, but he doesn’t himself really run or have all that much involvement in.

Devil’s Advocate: Isn’t a guy who can bring himself back from the ledge financially worth looking at?

Bush was sooooo bad - but the democrat ticket in 2004 was worse.

Now there’s some profound political insight.

meh.

Donald Trump-— appalled by trade deficits with China and oil producing nations
George Bush-— He could care less. His attitude is free markets will take care of all that plus GW is an internationalist
DennisW-— I am not an internationalist and neither is Donald Trump.

Donald Trump-— put troops on the Mexican border
George Bush-— Amnesty para sus amigos
Dennisw -— we need some xenophobia to counteract our loony toon open borders policies
