What in God’s name is a submariner doing with green hair? And that shooter looks like a pansified version of Bradley Manning.

Maybe Mohammed had nothing to do with it...

Never once did I saythey were crap. I said that they are mostly used by third world countries, that’s all. If I want to read about something I’m interested in it would be about guns.

The Able Seamen would have been on armed guard duty. Standard procedure on a Royal Navy vessel.

Have you never heard of the line crossing ceremony (crossing the equator). Do a search for crossing the equator for such navies as Canada, Australia, UK etc. Someone has to dress up as the female characters in the ceremony. Also there is a long tradition of costume dress. In my time in the forces I’ve seen plenty of US Navy dressed up in all manner of costume party gear while out on shore leave.

as I recall - the guy’s name was Kansi.

The important fact - he was caught (unfortunately it took a while).

"Most diesels today are third world."

What's your definition of "third world"? Does that include Japan and Britian?

The important fact - he was caught (unfortunately it took a while). It was indeed, one Mir Aimal Kasi, a pakistani national who spent four years on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list before his capture by Pakistan agents in Pakistan in 1997 and rendition back to the United States to stand trial. Kasi was executed by lethal injection on November 14, 2002, at Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Virginia.

Kasi's body was repatriated to Pakistan, his funeral was attended by the entire civil hierarchy of Baluchistan, the local Pakistan Army Corps Commander and the Pakistani Ambassador to the United States, Ashraf Jahangir Qazi.Days before Kasi's conviction in November 1997, four US oil executives and their Pakistani taxi driver were shot dead in Karachi, in what has been described as a deliberate response to Kasi's guilty verdict. Kasi is memorialized through a mosque build with his name as Shaheed Aimal Kansi masjid (Martyr Aimal Kansi mosque) in the port city of Ormara in Kansi's home province of Balochistan in Pakistan.

Well, realistically speaking, Britain is now third world in my opinion because of their appeasement of so many, many third world immigrants, and yes as cruel as it may seem, unfortunately so might be Japan because they are doomed now on so many levels due to their disaster. However, if any country can recover from such it would be Japan. Britain does not have a prayer (unless it is east towards Mecca). There, is that smart-ass enough for you?

Wow - that was more detail on the close of the story than I knew or could recall.

Interesting, that the ROP named a mosque after him.

(no picture?) - you amaze me with some of the pictures you come up with.

Thanks for the reply.

Best regards,

I'm a former newspaper photog and photo editor, so yeah, I usually know where to dig up something illustrative. And every time I do, it saves me a thousand words, if Confuscious was right.

Here you go. It's an older pic, but he doesn't seem to be getting out much lately.

I wasn't trying to be a smart ass. You made an incredibly stupid statement that only third world countries have diesel subs. Just about anyone polled would say that both Britian and Japan are not third world countries. I've not been to Britian, but I can assure you that Japan is not a third world country. Many cities in Japan would put some of our cities to shame. I have also been to many third world countries in Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia and most of them don't have any submarines if they even have a Navy. You use your own twisted logic to make those two countries into third world countries. You should quit while you're only so far behind. You have shown you don't know a lot about submarines and third world countries. I'd hate for you to keep posting and display more ignorance on a different subject.

Well for starters you take ‘most’ and turn it into ‘only.’. Secondly, okay you’ve traveled. So have I. Including five years on a Japanese island. I am not talking about what I want for Japan; however the collective Japan is in for some very hard times. Britain? You can’t seriously still think they are out ally of yesteryear can you? You let fondness for DBF and reality of now escape you

First off any country is an ally to us only as long as we have common cause together. For the most part, we and Britian do share common cause most of the time. As for thinking back to yesteryear. It seems that you are the one thinking back to yesteryear. The days when German U-Boats were diesel subs ruling the nether regions. Today's diesel subs are extremely advanced.

I'm happy you travelled. I'm happy you've been to Japan. So then you've seen real third world I presume. Somalia is third world. Pakistan is third world. Since you've been to Japan you know it is not third world. Look, after Hurricane Katrina, should the rest of the world have pronounced the United States in desperate straights and going to third world status? I think not. Japan is more than Fukijima. While this nuclear tragedy is indeed going to harm them. It does not send them to third world status and if you've been there, you should know that.

To bring this back on point, your first statement was that diesel subs are for the third world. That is what I and others are trying to point out to you. To be kind, that was not a factually correct statement. Not even close. Diesel Subs are not ancient history. They have an important role in a lot of the world's navies. And not third world ones.

Would it be inappropriate to applaud at an execution?
