New DNC chief: Screen sales of all guns
The Hill ^ | 4/18/11 | MIke Lillis

Posted on 04/18/2011 4:51:06 PM PDT by Nachum

The new head of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) is pushing for screenings of all gun purchases. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said the current law, which allows private firearm sales without background checks, is "outrageous." The Florida Democrat is sponsoring a soon-to-be-released proposal extending the screening requirements to all gun purchases, commercial or private. "It is outrageous that gun buyers evade the background check system every day, even in broad daylight," Wasserman Schultz said Monday at a gun reform rally in Miami sponsored by Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

...it’s a mystery why they persist in this folly. Abject stupidity is the most convincing explanation.

Abject stupidity? Do you really think that is the most convincing explanation? Democrats, far more than Republicans, stand by their principle. Yes I did say principle not principles. Their only principle is to increase their power over the people. In every stated position the DNC publishes this is obvious. Their policies never fix whatever problem said policy addresses but it always increases the power of government. Abortion "rights", energy policy, taxes, spending, enviroment, these policies are all designed to increase their power over us.

Does forbidding private sales of firearms between citizens make anyone safer? No, and demonstrably no. Does limiting sales of firearms and accessories of certain types help make society safer? No. Does limiting who can carry a firearm and where they can carry a firearm make society safer? No quite the opposite. Would banning all firearms make us a safer nation? No, and it's obvious. Would any of these policies increase the power of government over the people? Yes...and that is why Democrats support them.

We need to move past calling Democrats stupid, or ignorant or crazy. They are evil and wish to destroy the very concept of freedom.

>>Sorry, Debbie, it’s a non-starter.

While I certainly wish you were correct, it has over 100 sponsors. All Dems, of course. It’s not going anywhere, but that is definitely a start.

If by 'plinker 2.4' you are referring to Shooter 2.5, no, I haven't heard from him for a while.

On the other hand, if all you have for him is insults, it's not surprising he may not be responding to you.

I would agree with you if the gun control measures they promulgate actually produced the control they seek; they don’t. Gun control doesn’t work, dangerous people always work around the laws and the honest people they seek to control are already armed. Gun control is a total political and practical loser and only serves to cost the democrats votes. And yet they persist. Abject stupidity explains it.

Whatever happened to ol' Plinker 2.4? Anybody heard from him lately?

Probably got banned, or maybe he's too busy giving hummers to the NRA board to post. He got pretty cranky the last few threads where I saw him and was getting into unnecessary fights with Freepers over views that could have been discussed rationally (not saying the other posters draped themselves in glory either, but he seemed to consistently be the first to go nuclear, so they had some excuse).

Yep, just checked. His profile page says he was banned or suspended. Not surprised after those flame wars he was responsible for.

The gun control measures do actually produce the control they desire. By banning private sales of firearms they are in actuality creating a firearm registry. Does gun control have the effect they say it has? No...of course not, but they reasons they use to sell all of the policies are never the real reason for the policy. You might say that gun control loses them votes but they have been very successful in passing it regardless of it losing them votes. Clinton blamed the loss of the house and senate during his administration on the Assault Weapons ban, but it didn't stop the Democrats. Nothing ever stops them grabbing for more and more power. It would be nice to think they were just being stupid but history demonstrates otherwise.

Oh yeah, that was his handle. I just wanted to ax him an honest question, unless he’s particularly sensitive for some reason.

Please keep talking Debbie. As loudly and publicly as you can.

As the face of the DNC, you will expose it for what it is.

It would seem the dems have a DeathWish for all of us.

if they can’t abort us before we are born, they will allow drunked illegals to crash into us or worse, allow gangs and foreign invaders to wreak havoc at will upon the general populace.

and then make the claim , we have no right to defend ourself, that is the Gubamint’s job..

I take the appointment of Debbie Wasserman-Schultz as head of the DNC to be a VERY BAD OMEN for our country.

The Dems crave raw power over anything else, and I see her appointment, along with Pelosi staying on as House minority leader as a clear signal that something very bad will be forced on us before the 2012 elections.

Have you ever noticed how energized Obama and the Dems get when a crisis occurs ?

Yeah, her name is Wasserman. Anyone got a photo of the poor schlub who married this? Name of Shultz. A matriarchal society with geldings for males. Religion of peace will have a field day with them.
