Yeah, that whole ‘going upscale’ concept just doesn’t seem to have worked out for them...
Gee, WalMart must have found Chinese sources for guns and ammo.
... and a strengthening demand for guns and bullets.
Hmmm... wonder why that is?
Policies Regarding the Sale of Certain Products at Target
Guns / Toy Guns
Target does not sell real guns, or toy guns that can be mistaken for real guns.
In the early 1990s, we made the decision to stop selling "realistic" toy guns. We limited the sales of toy guns to those that are brightly colored and oddly shaped and, therefore, will not be mistaken for an actual weapon. We firmly believe that any toy gun that has the potential to be mistaken for a real gun is inappropriate for sale at Target.
Tobacco and Cigarettes
Target discontinued the sale of cigarettes in our stores in 1996. We do not currently sell any tobacco products.
They had a pretty good franchise, a while back. Then they decided to get cute, and blew it. I doubt if they’re going to find it to be particularly easy to get that particular customer base back, because life goes on and the customers have gone elsewhere.
when did they remove the gun section in the sporting goods part of the store?
All of the big Walmart stores here in Mobile, Al. sell guns and ammo. I bought a 10/22 there a couple months ago, and bought 400 round of .223 last week (why did I buy 400 rounds? Because that’s all they had). You may be able to find a lower price on ammo on the net, but not cheap enough to get past the ease of buying and walking out with it (unless your’re buying very large quantities).
Now I won’t know to buy my shotguns from Walmart or Holland and Holland.
New guy came in:
-Lay off employees in Arkansas
-Export jobs to New York City (because the desired employees who look down on WalMart shoppers weren’t willing to move to Arkansas)
-Stop selling stuff that liberals don’t like or don’t think is cool
-Raise prices
-Watch same store sales decline for two years.
Give the guy a bonus.
So screw 'em. I reload all my usual calibers, anyway.
Sounds like they missed the redneck money after all. I am including me in that bit of humor because I bought fabric there and hubby bought ammo. Walmart was trying to lose the redneck customers and got rid of everything they thought we would want. Seems like the politically correct upscale liberal shoppers didn’t show up.
“all but a third”
Weird phrasing of statistics, trying to create an impression of a ratio which isn’t there.
And yes, picking up a case of ammo there is sensible amidst the rest of the shopping list.
Not unusual to browse around and notice a good price on ammo, and take advantage of the opportunity. I get my birdshot loads there.
Know a guy who, during the run on ammo, saw some was available at the local Walmart. “I’ll take some 9mm.” “How much you want?” “How much you got?” “3000 rounds.” “Sold.”
As the economy tanks, more and more of the effete posturing and preening is going to fall by the wayside. When things are going well, you can afford apple-polishing nonsense like solar panels and banning guns. But when times are lean, you gotta give the people what they want.
