The decision to drop terror chieftain Osama bin Laden’s corpse into the Arabian Sea was the final meticulous step in a raid whose details were calculated to exert deadly force but also to achieve maximum effect in the propaganda war: the White House was careful to say bin Laden’s body had been treated according to Islamic tradition, but also to deny his followers a shrine.
But while the watery grave may help diminish bin Laden’s status as a martyr to his followers, it was already fueling conspiracy theories; as the administration resisted releasing even photographs of the slain terrorist leader on Monday, a predictable haze of myth and rumor had already, inevitably, begun to rise around him.
The White House said Monday morning that it is running DNA tests on some element of Bin Laden’s remains, and that it’s debating releasing a photograph taken of him after the lethal U.S. raid on his Pakistani compound.
“The United States Government has not yet been made a decision on whether there will be a photo release,” White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said in an email.

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan wrote her supporters, “I am sorry, but if you believe the newest death of OBL, you’re stupid. Just think to yourself—they paraded Saddam’s dead sons around to prove they were dead—why do you suppose they hastily buried this version of OBL at sea? He is a liar. Obama is cold, calculating political shark. Look what he did to Ryan and the Republicans. Promising them he was going to release a real deficit reduction plan when all he was really doing was baiting them to release something serious so he could use it as cudgel against them. And that is just ONE of many examples.
Still, the birther stuff... Just let it go man. It really is out there. The fact that Obama is a political con man does not mean he is releasing fake BC documents. Some conspiracies just strain credulity - and the birther stuff is one of them. There is a good reason most prominent conservatives like Mark Levin, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, etc, stay as far away from it as possible. It's silliness and it makes any person or movement pushing it sound nuts.
Donald Trump has billions of dollars and I am sure he, many other individuals and countless news outlets will hire real experts that do not have an axe to grind to determine if there is actually anything wrong with the long form BC. My guess is you will hear nothing.
Just think about it. The Rather forgeries were picked apart by folks on the interwebz, but then their findings were CONFIRMED by serious investigators who get paid real money to do this stuff. Trusting some dude named Tickerguy from the internet is lunacy.
Just because we don't trust Hussein does not mean we believe any old conspiracy theory that comes down the pike. If we did it would make us no different from the leftists.
Now I know a lot of people, perhaps yourself, had a lot invested in the birther stuff. Maybe you were just so certain he was ineligible and that there was no way he could release a long form. Unfortunately, that particular conspiracy was blown to pieces. For now at least, it's just over. It may be hard, but you've gotta let this one go.
My only concern about all this is that we may have turned Bin Laden into the Elvis of the Muslim world. After all, who in the world are more prone to wild conspiracy theories?
Of course, there would probably be rumors that he’s still alive even if his body was mounted on a spike on the White House lawn.
