Krauthammer: Palin "Not Schooled" In Policy; Doesn't Know She Needs It
Real Clear Politics ^ | June 1, 2011 | Charles Krauthammer

Posted on 06/01/2011 9:43:57 AM PDT by Rennes Templar

FOX News contributor Charles Krauthammer gives his take on what a "Washington establishment elitist" thinks of a potential Sarah Palin run for the presidency. In self-deprecating fashion, Krauthammer says he wears Palin's "hoity-toity" comment as a badge of honor.

"She is very smart and adept. Great political instincts and is a star. The problem with her, I think, is that she is not schooled. I don't mean she didn't go to the right schools. I mean when you get into policy, beyond instincts -- I like her political instincts, I like her political overall view of the world -- but when it comes to policy, she had two-and-a-half years to school herself and she hasn't and that's a problem," Charles Krauthammer told Bill O'Reilly on Tuesday. "It's not only the lack of schooling, it's the lack of effort to school herself and the lack of insight to see that she needs it."

The Oligarchy are all getting edgy because they’re beginning to realize that Flyover Country understands that the same minds that created the problems, cannot fix them.

Its called job insecurity..and its about da$* time some of THEM experienced it.

“Fox & Friends” had Donald Trump on the phone this morning—he was pretty negative about Krauthammer.

Do you really think that Trump would ever settle for number two slot?

She has the right instincts, but she needs a lot of information. And she needs a lot of people around her. I don’t know if she has that or not (she’s not my first choice, altho I’m not opposed to her and would support her whole heartedly).

I am just dead sick and tired of this total black and white you cannot disagree one iota with my thinking or you are a complete and utter idiot/ugly/fat/evil/hateful/satanic/porn loving/child eating/any other bad thing I can think of/ mindset here. Everyone seems brittle and completely ready to jump at everyone else’s throat. Now I will be called something. Hopefully just fat. :)

And O'Reilly, too. He didn't like it that O'Reilly wouldn't air his comments about Krauthammer "talking tough", but is really "weak".

Krauthammer is right. Without proper foreign policy schooling, President Palin may trigger mass uprisings and chaos in The Middle East.

Oh. Wait.

I would like to strike my previous comment (#113)...the part about wishing Charles would run for president.

I didn’t have reason to look at his ideals until I had made that premature statement.

Now, I just want to say, he would be a dangerous person in that office, especially, considering how many times he is correct in his political analysis. This man knows the political ropes and is an atheistic socialist.

He’s also a Romney supporter...

Well, that explains it right there. He's just as scared of Palin as the rest of the MSM and libs are.

Really? Where does one go to get schooled to believe in such dumbassery?

Just to be clear, here's what I was referring to from her facebook post:

If he actually follows through on his claim that Afghan forces will take “unilateral action” against NATO forces who conduct such air raids to take out terrorists and terrorist positions, that should result in the immediate withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan and the suspension of U.S. aid.

Palin acknowledges that sometimes women and children get killed, and that NATO takes care to avoid that. Which is true enough.

But here she's saying something different (even if she didn't mean to): it looks like she's saying that civilian deaths are OK if we take out a "terrorist position" at the same time.

That's red meat for those who are already using civilian deaths for their own propaganda purposes. And at the same time, she's outright threatening Karzai and Afghanistanis in general for complaining about civilian deaths.

And what about this "immediate withdrawal" stuff.... didn't FReepers rightly lambaste the likes of Harry Reid and Obama for calling for the same sort of withdrawal from Iraq? Should Palin be somehow immune from criticism for making the same bad suggestion about Afghanistan?

Such dumbassery is a result of lack of schooling: she's not paying attention to what's happening and could happen over there, she's just reacting to what Karzai said. Even just remembering the situation in Iraq, circa 2006, should caused her reason to pause and reflect before speaking.

And her overal her comment is not particularly well thought-out, either.

Do you think they held Reagan to the same “schooling” standards when he ran for POTUS? I can’t recall lack of knolwedge on foreign policy as a campagin issue, and being an actor and Eureka college grad is not exactly schooling for the governorship or WH.

If Krauthammer really likes Palin’s political instincts, then he should be assured that she will appoint people who cover her deficiencies in knowledge. Good Presidents, like Reagan, realize that no one person can possess every skill necessary to run this country and rely on good people to assist them. Unlike the current imposter in the White House, Sarah isn’t arrogant enough to think that she is smarter than all the experts in the room.

Not flaming you at all. I agree with what you are saying. The question is...are you sure she’s NOT doing this now?
