INDEPENDENCE, Mo.— An alligator caused a lot of commotion for one Independence man Sunday when three Independence police officers shot at his concrete lawn ornament.

Rick Sheridan was working in his garage when he heard gunshots. He went around the back of his house to a pond, where he saw three police officers. The three officers had spotted the gator and were lined up on the bank, shooting at the large reptile.

"The officer fired two rounds, and killed my concrete, ornamental alligator," Sheridan said.

After realizing their bullets were bouncing off the yard art alligator, police left. Sheridan says now he plans to patch up his wounded gator.

Barrack Obama just called to say “The Police acted stupidly.” As you were.

Local Fuzz are the biggest group of losers I have ever seen anymore. These idiots watch too many episodes of Cops. These guys didn't even pay for their stupidity. Now the home owner has to fix the bullet damage.

Reminds me of my uncle when he shot a badger in the head with his .22 and then tossed him in with the burlap bag of live snapping turtles.

Turns out the .22 DID just bounce of the badger’s skull. He came to in the back seat and started clawing his way out of the sack.

It took a .44 on the side of the road to kill it. And then chasing the turtles down!

Good thing he didn’t have a dog. Otherwise the dog probably would have started barking and the idiot police would have shot the dog too.

Must have been one seriously P.O.’d badger, not to mention the turtles!

They should be charged with ‘reckless discharge of a firearm’ like any regular citizen would be.

You can put your eye out shooting a concrete lawn ornament at close range.

Obviously, not the brightest bulbs on the string.

When I was a child, a cat got half squished by a car and was crawling across the street.

Mom called the cops, and the officer dispatched the animal with a .38 round.

He shot it when it was on a sewer cover, the round roached through all us kids who were gathered around to watch. It was a miracle no one got hit, but a neighbor did lose a shed window.

Make up your mind, man. Was it killed or wounded?

>> Independence Police Shoot At Concrete Alligator

So what does this mean when the cops shout “Freeze!”? Should we wiggle our pinkies?

Given national trends, one can only be both surprised and grateful that they didn’t send a SWAT team.

The badger was a bad ass to begin with. My uncle tried walking around him (into the woods off the trail) several times and the badger just moved with him each time - not letting him pass!
