Peruvian opposition candidate Ollanta Humala is headed to victory over Congresswoman Keiko Fujimori in the Andean nation’s presidential runoff, according to a quick count of ballots and three exit polls. Humala won 51.5 percent compared with 48.5 percent for Fujimori, according to a quick count of 91 percent of ballots at selected polling stations nationwide by Lima-based researcher Ipsos-Apoyo.

Peruvians had a lousy choice. Wouldn’t want either one.

Keiko Fujimori is a right-wing conservative. Humala is a nazi.

My friend in Lima agrees, he did not like Fujimori very much, but knew Hugo’s friend Humala would not be good for Peru.

Humala, like Chavez, led a failed coup as a paratrooper. In 2000, he directed 50 soldiers to seize and occupy for a week one of Phoenix-based Southern Copper Corp.’s mines to protest corruption in Fujimori’s government. The former army lieutenant colonel’s brother, Antauro Humala, is in jail for killing four policemen during the takeover of a highland town in 2005.

Like Chavez, an armed mutineer. You don't indulge people like this, you slap them in prison for life.

The president who pardoned Chavez is at fault for everything that followed. Failure to courtmartial Humala was the first step toward a new dictatorship.

To be sure. I was in Lima in late March, and saw all the political advertising, from all the candidates. The Keiko Fujimori ones particularly annoyed me, as she was practically calling for a police state. Many here believe Humala will be a disaster, and perhaps so, but Fujimori would have been even worse imo...

They *both* have a fascist mindset. No good choices there...

As far as I can see they are both horrible choices, with Fujimoro being, at least, pro-business. I’m afraid for Peru.

“Keiko Fujimori is a right-wing conservative.”

That’s not what I hear.
You might want to check on some of the other comments being made by FReepers who have lived or visited there or have friends who do

Since you made the claim (?), I think you should back it up.

What is your evidence that Fujimori is a communist?

FReepers said that? Who? Bump them.

My post # 6 was a question. See the question mark? I never said FReepers said that.

And my response to you in #15 was regarding your “Keiko Fujimori is a right-wing conservative” statement.
Please read more carefully, read the posts of others regarding Fujimori and stop trying to put words in my mouth.

Thank you.

You thought she was a communist? That's what you posted. Where did you hear that?

She's not. You just heard it from a FReeper. Her father is being persecuted because he was an anti-communist. Humala's father was a communist. Humala is a leftist nazi socialist.

“Humala is a leftist nazi socialist. “

Yes, I know he’s a bad guy. Thank you.

My understanding from others, is that she’s no angel, neither was her father, and the Peruvians had a lousy choice to make between the 2 of them, though in the end, they made the wrong choice.
So, we’ll see what happens now.
