Pollard Asks to Visit 'Dying' Father
Arutz Sheva ^ | 12/6/11 | Gil Ronen

Posted on 06/11/2011 10:42:34 PM PDT by Eleutheria5

Jonathan Pollard’s father is in serious condition, according to Pollard’s wife Esther. “Emergency phone call from Jonathan today,” Esther Pollard in an email message Saturday night. “He was crying. He was crying so much it was hard to understand. Now I am crying too.”

“He told me he got an emergency phone call from his brother Harvey to tell him that his Dad is dying... they do not know if he will even make it through the day.

“This was totally unexpected and a great shock.

“Dad was in fairly good health. He is old but in very good shape. So what happened? He got a bladder infection. They gave him antibiotics for the infection, but something went wrong and his whole body went into some kind of septic shock. All his organs are shutting down.

“Harvey, Jonathan's brother, arranged with the prison to allow Jonathan to have an emergency phone call with his Dad today. Dad was too weak to speak. Harvey held the phone for him. Jonathan told his Dad how much he loves him and that he has always loved him and always will. He spoke with his Dad to thank him for all he taught him and for the wonderful years they had together. He blessed his father to go in peace and surrounded by the good deeds he has done all his life.

Should we show such putative spies zero mercy, too?

No, you shouldn't.

And, nobody knew at the time what the ultimate fate of the USSR would be. It’s nice that, largely through Ronald Reagan’s efforts, it was turned into a “less hostile” power, but the stuff that Pollard slipped to them didn’t make that any easier. He would have met the fate of the Rosenbergs had it not been for vigorous lobbying by Israel. But if he really wishes to be executed maybe his wish should be granted.

I guess I am built different.

If Pollard’s family would pay the bills for his trip and those of the guard to travel with him, I would allow him to see his father.

Certainly I would not set Pollard free, He is a spy, who got caught, but is it so wrong to allow a bit of humanity?

Let Pollard out for any reason?
Hell no, send him to the gallows.

[snip] Pollard pleaded guilty to espionage and was sentenced to prison for life. His wife served a five-year sentence for unauthorized possession of government documents. Upon her release, Anne Henderson Pollard divorced her husband. In 1993 Secretary of Defense Les Aspin reported that Pollard had tried 14 times to disclose classified information in letters written to various recipients from his prison cell. [/snip]

We have to keep an eye on Israel. Did you forget the USS Liberty?
A clearly marked United States ship savaged by the Israel's
Still so many unanswered questions there, after all these years.
Not to mention many Navy crewman killed in an unprovoked attack on a friend. They had lives to live, family that loved them, and NO chance to say good by.

“He spoke with his Dad to thank him for all he taught him.....”

I’m sure his dad is heartbroken at not having taught him how to be a loyal American. He’s probably already knew his son was a big whiner when it came to complaining about just and true punishment for his misdeeds.

Such situations go with the territory of being in prison; “Cool Hand Luke” bump....

I guess that with that type of contorted reasoning, that it’s a good idea to let ALL CRIMINALS visit their dying parents. Hell, who knows...their mothers or fathers may die at least two times a year and each year in the future. That would make for a nice vacation each year.

What is your reasoning for letting this special criminal have your blessing to travel while not including ALL CRIMINALS who are currently incarcerated?

No. You swore an oath to the United States and betrayed it. You are still trying to give away classified information to your handlers. You are not a “Prisoner of Zion”; you are a traitor.

It’s undeniable that Pollard sold some secrets to the Soviet Union, which constituted treason. But the Soviet Union is no more, and the damage he did there is now moot.

This argument makes no sense. Should an American who spied for Hitler have been freed and forgiven because the Third Reich ultimately fell?

I would allow most criminals to see their dying parents. In fact many prisons do. I have seen people at funerals under guard.

I know a prison guard who goes with them and hates that duty.

I would not deny a person a last visit with a loved one such as a Father. But that’s just me, you are entitled to your opinion.

I don’t have a problem with that, but he would get to see his father before they hanged him.

Good post.

People who have been involved in U.S. intelligence in the past will tell you that in their dealings to protect U.S. national security secrets, they considered Israel as big a risk as the Soviet Union.

I’d be curious to know where exactly his father is right now. Pollard was born in Texas and was a U.S. citizen since birth, and he was granted Israeli citizenship sometime in the mid-1990s. Is his father still in the U.S., or is he in Israel now?

His father's dying? Excellent. Not getting to see his father before he dies is part and parcel of the punishment for his crimes.

If Israel wants his worthless a$$ all they have to do is hand over his Mossad handlers to serve out the rest of his life sentence in an American prison. I do believe Israel was offered this when they made one of their odious pleas for the traitor's release.

But hey, if you have a soft spot for traitors, please feel free to start a campaign to have all traitors to the State of Israel released. But stay out of how we punish our traitors.

The man all these jakes HOLDING Pollard serve under, and all these jakes who affirm the legitimacy of, as “President and Commander-In-Chief”, this man, Obama is giving the Russians what?

You idiots who so viciously hold a man longer than any other ever held for anything similar! Who like ill-bred rude DOGS bark out “TRAITIOR! KILL HIM!”

Do you that this man you are willing to tolerate—Obama—is a far greater traitor? And Obama has really worked with our enemies and given them aid and comfort. Treason.

But instead of taking that evil on, instead like cowards and curs you bark at a small man, a beaten man. A man who spied for an ally, not an enemy. In other words, spying for an ally, not treason.

YOU are the traitors by such treasonous foolishness and vile hatred.

Obama is the traitor.
