The chairman of the Homeland Security Committee exchanged barbs with a Democratic member about the committee's hearing on the radicalization of American Muslims in U.S. prisons Wednesday.
During the hearing, Rep. Laura Richardson (D-Calif.) voiced her opposition to the committee's focus on Islamic terrorism.
"What I disagree with, and I would say again with all respect to the chairman, is the scope of this committee's only focusing on one particular group. I actually believe that the focus of one particular group on the basis of race or religion can be deemed as racist and as discriminatory," Richardson said.
"I agree that we need to look at the prisons and I wholeheartedly agree that we need to examine all terrorist attacks and threats and you will have my 100 percent support," Richardson continued.
She objected, she said, to what appeared to be discrimination of one particular group on the basis of race or religion. Such practices should not be done in the House of Representatives," she said.
But Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.), the committee chairman, quickly shot back that he disagreed "100 percent" with Richardson.
"The purpose of this committee is to combat Islamic terrorism because that is the terrorist threat to this country. If we find out that neo-Nazis are allied with a foreign power and they come into this country, we will investigate it," King said.

good...it’s way past time we started discriminating between good guys and terrorists.
if the muzzies ever completely take over, i’m going to grow a beard and stand in the public square and watch them hogtie and bullwhip the leftist wenches who helped put them in power
i wont enjoy it, but i will watch
The Democrats are just a bunch of idiots. When Islamic terrorism is a practical problem, we shouldn’t investigate it because that’s discriminatory. Why don’t these people get in touch with reality instead of playing goody-goodies all the time.
Laura Richardson commits mortgage fraud. Nuff said.
Good point. Just as the TSA frisks traveling nuns and military officers, we should investigate the radicalization of American Amish and Mennonites.
Really? I'll watch and enjoy it. They will have earned it.
I won’t enjoy it because of what it will mean for the rest of the country, that it will mean it’s all over for America. But yes, I will be cheering that bull whip every time it strikes leftist flesh.
But I won’t be enjoying it.
Oh I know. There might be more I have to do to “pass”. But whatever it is, I’ll be biologically able to do it. Now so the leftist b*tches. They’ll be screaming in agony on their way to h*ll.

That’s fitting since muzzlems themselves are discriminatory.
Wow. Too bad Rep King doesn’t chair more committees (in the House and the Senate). Ben Stein’s father once said that watching a committee hearing was like “watching two ships pass in the night.”
This one was a welcome exception: we got to watch Captain King take charge and to watch HMS Richardson beach herself.

Seeing that despite the paranoid fantasies of Christophobes, Christians (be they Orthodox, Latin, Coptic, Assyrian, Armenian, Anglican, Lutheran, Calvinist, . . . .) taking their religion more seriously has not (since the 17th century) resulted in them attacking civilians, taking up arms to wage war or engaging in subversive activities; nor are such thing inspired by increase devotion to the tenants of any form of Judaism, Buddhism, Taoism, Sikhism, Shintoism (well not since the 1940’s), Hinduism (okay, there are the Hindu ultra-nationalists in India, who misbehave from time to time), while increased devotion to Islam seems to result in attacks on civilians, the taking up of arms, and subversion against any government that does not base itself on the same Islamic fiqh with distressing frequency, it seems to me that the case for expanding the investigation of religious radicalization beyond Muslims is pretty thin.
She’ll still be complaining about our country’s being “discriminatory” when TROP hacks off her head.
I hate dems. They are intent on destroying America. I just wish more Republicans would step along side Rep. King. He is a brave man.
Poor little Dem Congresswoman! Rep. King just disagreed with her! I would bet that Rep. Richeradson is more miffed about someone disagreeing with her than she will EVER be miffed about a certain group being "discriminated" against.
