TSA Now Storming Public Places 8,000 Times a Year
American Thinker ^ | 6/20/11 | Tara Servatius

Americans must to decide if, in the name of homeland security, they are willing to allow TSA operatives to storm public places in their communities with no warning, pat them down, and search their bags. And they better decide quickly.

Bus travelers were shocked when jackbooted TSA officers in black SWAT-style uniforms descended unannounced upon the Tampa Greyhound bus station in April with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and federal bureaucrats in tow.

A news report by ABC Action News in Tampa showed passengers being given the signature pat downs Americans are used to watching the Transportation Security Administration screeners perform at our airports. Canine teams sniffed their bags and the buses they rode. Immigration officials hunted for large sums of cash as part of an anti-smuggling initiative.

The TSA clearly intends for these out-of-nowhere swarms by its officers at community transit centers, bus stops and public events to become a routine and accepted part of American life.

Football games may not be in their charter but TSA is doing a great job getting some great grope time in at the local high school proms!

Yes, that should become the focus of the discussion.

We need to start a national dialog on the purpose of the TSA being limited to TRANSPORTATION.

Then we can isolate the meaning to either: 1) international transportation ports (e.g., airports, shipping ports), 2) interstate transportation (e.g., roadblocks/checkpoints on federal interstate highways), 3) intrastate transportation (e.g. state highways), 4) cities and towns (bus stops, transit centers).

We can discuss federal overreach by talking about TSA being asked to set up screening checkpoints at: 1) stadium events, 2) high school proms, 3) other large public gatherings (parades, fireworks, permitted protests, etc.).

This would be a great topic for a talk radio host to introduce for national debate.

The TSA has publicly stated they intend to go far beyond the airports.

That oughta get entertaining...

Didn’t the National Joke mention that he was going to create a national civilian security force during his term? The TSA could be the makings of it.

yet you'll find plenty of freepers who are just fine with this at airports. After all, you don't have to fly, you can always take the train, ride a bus. drive your car, walk, ust admit you're living in a totalitarian state.

I can't write my thoughts down here... When is enough, enough? Do we wait until the SS patrols our neighborhoods, churches and schools? With all this police power, if a President wanted to call an end to our rights and seize absolute power, he would have the tools...

Ok I just read this entire article and how the hell did all this happen under everyone’s nose?? 8000 incidents just last year of this type of random searches and Ive not heard a single thing about it, minus the airport stuff. Wow, this TSA needs to be put to bed fast.

Just as the ATF gets defanged and new and greater beast appears.

The TSA is really another incarnation of “standing army” that the Founders despised and abolished.

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Looks to me like the Fourth Amendment needs a little clarification, particularly with regard to what constitutes "unreasonable." People make up unconscious "reasons" for virtually everything they do.

Note to self: Rewrite Fourth Amendment.

" Do we wait until the SS patrols our neighborhoods, churches and schools?"

I hear ya. A few elections back we had "observers" in our church. They were ACLU, I think, sent to see if we were engaged in electioneering. Before then, I couldn't have imagined government goons in the back pews taking notes. But now I can.

BTTT! Exactly. They’ve been condoning it for years, when the small group of the rest of us knew exactly where this was headed.

Better yet is NO TSA, NO FEDGOV INVOLVEMENT IN PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION. There is ZERO Constitutional authority granted for such barbra streisand, period. I fail to understand why anyone on this site would tolerate, for one NANO-SECOND, such an intolerable and unconstitutional intrusion into their private transportation contracts with other private entities. The ONLY national dialogue we need is: “How fast can we END this perversion and jail or execute its perpetrators and those who authorized it.” Just the same as all those abominations practiced by the BATFags.

One Nano-second would not be too fast.
