Billionaire George Soros Trying To Stack the Courts, Critics Say
Fox News.com ^ | June 27, 2011 | Maxim Lott

Billionaire George Soros spends tens of millions each year supporting a range of liberal social and political causes, from drug legalization to immigration reform to gay marriage to abolishing the death penalty.

But a less well-known Soros priority -- replacing elections for judges with selection-by-committee -- now has critics accusing him of trying to stack the courts.

Most non-federal judges around the country are selected by voters in elections. But some states use a process called “merit selection” in which a committee – often made up of lawyers – appoints judges to the bench instead.

Soros has spent several million dollars in the past decade in an attempt to get more states to scrap elections and adopt the merit method. Supporters say it would allow judges to focus on interpreting the law rather than on raising campaign funds and winning elections.

“Merit selection would end the money race and get judges out of the fundraising business,” Lynn Marks, executive director of Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts -- a group that has received money from Soros’ Open Society Institute -- told FoxNews.com.

But critics say that if judges are picked by committee -- often, a committee of lawyers -- that will give left-wing judges the upper hand.

“The left can’t get their agenda through the legislatures anymore … so they think they can get their agenda through by taking over the courts,” attorney Colleen Pero, author of a new report titled "Hijacking Justice," told FoxNews.com.

Glenn Beck has spent two years telling us who tis guy is, and what he is doing, yet the only creds he gets here is, he is fat, and cries too much.

Glenn is leaving FOX to put his money where his mouth is, I expect the ankle biters will continue yapping here.

I think the true power in our government rests with the courts. Look at all the legislating that they've done from the bench. They allowed abortion, racial quotas, illegal search and seizures, misuse of the eminent domain laws, etc. They can block legal candidates from seeking office and allow illegal ones to remain. They allow police to search a vehicle and keep any cash found without any charges ever being filed. They allow the police to seize legally held firearms and not return them.

If you control the judiciary, you control the country.

He is old, and soon to be gone from this world. Born August 12, 1930 (age 80). Soon to be 81, and nobody lives forever, no matter how much money they have. The lord will then judge.

Unfortunately, he has sons who share his views. Certain people shouldn’t reproduce no matter how rich they are - really contaminates the gene pool.

France has a Arrest warrant out for him.

As for his sons?

His company is of course out of the US and it will be hard to prove his assets when he dies for inheritance taxes.

Soros is simply seditious, and has been around since the Clintons.

He forwarded billions, illegally IMO, to take Bush and the GOP out of office. And gW wouldn't do anything and say anything. Like he wouldn't do anything or say anything anytime that conservatives were under attack.

Bush was very selective about enemies of America. If they were his house servants, he'd throw open the border to please them and his lazy womenfolks. But if they were the same people who once insulted Poppy, no price was too big to pay to go after them.

No more Bushes. He wouldn't defend me, an icky southern conservative (he once went so far as to say that Texas was not southern, but southwestern, despite all the Tennesseans in TX history and the fact that TX was part of the Confed)...

They can blame him, because I don't own him anymore.

I would be glad to see them get out of taxes if they would all just disappear. But, it seems that the evil ones seem to stick around for a long time past their welcome and become shriveled prunes giving the country diarrhea and colon cleansing. We need to really get head down and butt up to work ridding our country of this plague of socialism, elitism and irritable bowl syndrome called progressives.

Duh. George Soros is the worst “citizen” ANY country could entertain. He does not understand the concept of allegiance to ANY nation, and the fact that he bought a US citizenship by naturalization, to protect himself from prosecution by either the French or British governments, is an insult to civilization everywhere.

He is undermining the immigration laws of this country, actively works to debase our country’s currency and financial system, and supports a number of initiatives that are designed to clog up the judicial system for years. He has worked actively at the state level to stack the deck on vote counting to the point of fraud, and funded the mobs that have have at times overwhelmed the legislative branches. He OWNS the rent-a-mobs that threaten civility everywhere, and nobody dares to raise objection to his tactics.

The guy is an atheistic pro-socialist, who concealed his Jewish roots, and actively worked with the Arrow Cross fascist party against his native countrymen in Hungary. In 1944, with the eastern front collapsing, the German Nazis entered the country, to force the populace back into the fold of the Third Reich. The Soviet forces overwhelmed the nation’s borders, and sort of reversed that effort. In the ensuing chaos, George Soros chose to change sides, as the ultimate survivor, and managed to cover up most of his participation with the Arrow Cross.

Adolf Eichmann was a piker in comparison.

Denying the right of legal citizens to vote is a foundation principle for liberals.

Only then, any “judgement” will be far too late for the rest of us since the damage is already done. Its like waiting for someone to murder someone and THEN taking action when the victim is already dead!
