Yup, the fix is in. I have been wondering why the markets have been doing so well this week. (have not been paying attention but if they knew the pubs where going to cave..)

Reagan tried to make a deal with the dems. It didn’t work out to well. Hell I can’t think of ANY deal the Pubs came out ahead on when dealing with the Dems.

efore throwing Demint under the bus, you should read the linked article. He says (in effect) that to insure that Congress is never asked again, that the President should embrace “cut, cap, and balance.” It is the same thing, with a different statement of hyperbole that he has been stating for weeks.

hows that pay-go working out?

How could they even think about trusting obama? They should be impeaching the usurper.

He’s exactly right. The ceiling needs to be lifted, but the left has to make real concessions. That is what DeMint is asking for here. He’s not saying we’ll do it with a handshake. He’s saying we’ll do it, but it has to come with real decisions to reduce spending.

More borrowing is the problem. Not spending or taxing. Attention Freepers. Prepare to be Romneytized. The GOP is going to nominate Romney by hook or by crook.

I’m not sure I get what you mean. Frankly, I’d choose a balanced budget amendment over some of the proposed budget cuts we’ve seen—many of which could be wiped out by rising interest rates.

If DeMint & Co. push through a balanced budget amendment, they’ve put a stop to a lot of this nonsense very quickly.

The GOP focus on the deficit, rather than on economic growth (via tax cutting, fewer regulations, and trade agreements) and spending cuts, has given the Democrats the perfect excuse to call for cutting the deficit by raising taxes.

Exactly. It's like they simply cannot bring themselves to discuss logic and reality with the constituency. GWB was the same way, he simply could not say what conservatism is.

It's either because they don't understand themselves, or purposely hide the truth.

We have maintained over and over we need either a third party or a Tea Party to force the truth out of Washington DC.

Am I the only one who can view the words “balanced budget amendment” in this article? Or am I drinking something?

No one else to this point has event commented on it.

There would be no need to raise the debt ceiling if they would just eliminate about half of the government agencies. Most are unconstitutional anyway.

Agreed. I don’t see what all the castigation is over. DeMint outlined a recipe for a one-time debt ceiling increase that he knows the President and Congressional Democrats will never agree to; it’s a politician’s way of saying, “no chance” while appearing to remain constructive. Surely this is not difficult to understand?

agree completely. That ain’t happening with this Senate, and most likely not the next Senate. We will need at least three cycles of GOP gains and new constitutional conservative before we see massive departmental changes...unfortunately. Even then, it will be a miracle to see changes of that magnitude.
