Leif Ericson discovers new continent
05/07/2011 | WesternCulture

America belongs to the Americans.

Yes, but the discovery of America does not belong to silly Southern Europe.

From Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leif_Ericson

Viking explorers discovered America. Anyone denying this is selling LIES.

Leif Ericson is the King of all explorers.

No other Westerner, rightfully, can claim to have discovered America.

It's time to see who's who, Columbus.

Then, only a few thousand years later, my great grandfather, Gus Swanson arrived in time to help lay the cobblestones for his adopted homestown’s main street.

Bjarni Hurjulfson. No kidding. The sagas of King Olaf, older than the other Norsement sagas, give credit to Bjarni Hurjulfson as early as 985. Ericson’s sagas may have caught the Norse imagination more, because he went as a Christian evangelist in the year 1000 AD.

I wonder what those who were living in America for 15,000 years when Erikson arrived would have to say about this?

Go to the casino and find out.

And to this day Norsemen in New Foundland rub and kiss the Bjarni Stone for luck.

Of interest is those already here. At this time, the great American cities in Arizona, New Mwxica and Illinois were on the verge of explosive growth.

The climate must have been very different than now.

The people of whom you speak now live on Hopi Mesa and Zuni and Acoma Pueblos having moved from their cities.

Columbus discovered the beautiful Bahamas with sunshine and topless maidens.

Leif found yet another frozen rock.

It’s better in the Bahamas!

Always been my point. It Stayed Discovered.

The OP also left out the Portuguese whos fishing boats were crossing the Atlantic looking for Cod for a thousand years before Columbus.

There is also strong evidence for the Portuguese discovering South America long before Columbus, and, that he had their info in hand when he sailed.

Who’s ignorant and behind?

You are.

It’s not us who live in houses made out of cardboard.

It’s not us who drive around in Fred Flintstone cars.

Much of the population of Britain, Ireland, and Russia has Norse blood, which may account for the daring and aggressive behavior of those nations in later centuries.

Most of the population of Scandinavia also has Norse blood, yet since 1720 those nations have been largely peaceful and at times even supine.

You wrote:

“Who’s ignorant and behind?”

You are. Here’s the proof. You said:

“Southern Europe (read Rome and the Vatican) simply was being dishonest.”

I asked: “What on earth are you talking about?”

You were too ignorant and behind to be able to respond. You cannot even defend your own ignorant statements.

You also said: “All in all, this conflict is a consequense of Sweden’s military defeat of the Papal troops back in the 17th century.”

And I asked: “Again, what on earth are you talking about? Are you honestly claiming short lived Swedish victories in the 17th century somehow changed history backwards in time in the 15th century?”

And, again, you were too ignorant to defend your claims.

Then you have this gem:

“Don’t you try and f*ck up our history!”

What history? Sweden hasn’t had a notable history for almost 300 years.

“It’s not us who live in houses made out of cardboard.”

I would rather have cardboard then have this:

“It’s not us who drive around in Fred Flintstone cars.”

Yes, I am sure the Muslims will love raping your women in the backseats of all those Volvos and Saabs. So much room and soooo safe. Maybe you could be a good little dhimmi and drive them around while they’re at it. It’s the least you could do for your soon to be new masters.

During the era of Norse expansion, the Scandinavian homeland was overpopulated. The most aggressive elements, and younger sons who had little opportunity thanks to primogeniture, went overseas to rape, loot, conquer, and settle. That might have something to do with the wimpiness of today's Scandinavians.

I've often wondered about the effect of colonialism and expansion on Euro countries. The Brits were exhausted after WW I, but the Germans (despite suffering greater casualties) were soon ready for another round. Maybe it's because the most ambitious, daring, and aggressive Brits had been emigrating to America, Canada, Australia, Africa, etc. for generations, while the Germans, lacking a colonial empire, did not do so.

“What ethnicity was put down exactly?”

None! That’s the beauty.

I was picturing a country similar to Al Capp’s Lower Slobovia, a favorite fictional locale of my youth.

Slobbovia has two ‘b’s, sometimes.

But how is a non-ethnic slur an ethnic slur? If someone slurs Canadians, for instance, he is not slurring an ethnic group. The same goes for Americans, or Australians, New Zealanders, etc. Other nations are identical to specific ethnic groups.
