Given how Obama has treated Israel, it would have come as no surprise if this had been intentional. In any case, the initial report was widely denied and dismissed as inaccurate; however, now Morton has confirmed that it was true, and says it was an error. An error that happens to coincide with the sitting president's consistent stance toward Israel, but apparently he can't be this open about it yet.
"U.S. says Israels inclusion on terrorist watch list was a mistake," by Ron Kampeas for the Jewish Telegraph Agency, July 6 (thanks to all who sent this in):
WASHINGTON (JTA) -- Israel was included erroneously on a U.S. Department of Homeland Security terrorist watch list, a U.S. official said.
John Morton, the director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement division of the department, said Israel's recent appearance on a list compiled by the department's office of the inspector general was a mistake.
"The addition of Israel in the OIGs list of ICE's 'Third-Agency Checks' (TAC) was based on inaccurate information provided to the OIG during the course of its audit," Morton said in a statement sent by e-mail to JTA. "The U.S. does not and never has considered Israel to have links to terrorism, but rather they are a partner in our efforts to combat global terrorism. The United States maintains close intelligence-sharing relationships with Israel in order to address security issues within its own borders and in our mutual pursuit of safety and security around the globe."...

It looks like the internal polling and likely fund raising are showing some weakness for Obama and the Dems.
His Anti-Semetic urgings may just have to be put on hold until after the next election.

Mistake? Not with this omnipotent administration. Its to soon to call it a mistake, because this really smart program has not had a chance to reach maturity. The MSM knows this. When it works they will tell us about it.

Um, not to put too fine a point on it, but don’t you mean 180 degrees (i.e. the opposite direction)?

It was definitely no mistake, in fact quite deliberate. Major Judgement on the way to Washington.

U.S. admits adding Israel to terror watch list, says it was a mistakeThis list is not something a low level staffer does. This was not a mistake by the administration. This was not an error by the administration. This was a lie from this administration at the highest levels.

Good take on the Dept of State. Another reason is that career DoS people get postings to 23 Muslims states an there's only 1 Israel. DoS staff posted to foreign countries tend to become more like the country of their posting in thinking than Americans. In effect, these DoS staffers become Arabists when they return home and see the U.S.-Arab relations through this prism. It's not rocket science to inderstan why Israel's supporters at DoS are outnumbered 23 to 1.

Thanks Nachum. Yes and no — it was a mistake insofar as Israel doesn’t belong on such a list, but it’s obvious that it was done intentionally.

“Erroneously” my a - - !!! Somebody had to sign off on this list before it went public. Someone, somewhere, had to see Israel on the list - - and made no attempt to either question or remove Israel from the list. Another Obama Admn. LIE!!!
