President Obama on Tuesday said he cannot guarantee that retirees will receive their Social Security checks August 3 if Democrats and Republicans in Washington do not reach an agreement on reducing the deficit in the coming weeks.
"I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven't resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it," Mr. Obama said in an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley, according to excerpts released by CBS News.

Of course he is trying to get seniors to demand Republicans sign on to tax increases so they can get their SS checks. I was predicting this a month ago here.
But Democrats have been on every show for years claiming SS is self funded and is NOT adding a penny to the debt. If it was NOT adding a penny to the debt then how can the debt limit affect it now?
Unfortunately Boehner and McConnell's lines are tied up or I would ask them why they are not calling Democrats on this big lie.
Impeachment should be initiated immediately. Draw the articles. This man is a Menace. A clear danger to the Republic.

Well, the GOP just needs to take pictures of 0bama and family during their Martha’s Vineyard vacation and send it to all social security recipients.
So the facade of the lockbox which the Dems have claimed to exist forever is going to crumble so easily? There is still supposedly money in the Social Security Trust Fund. I guess that big lie will be exposed at last.
It will backfire. If he delays the checks the retirees will be so scared that they will back any GOP plan to recast social security and cut every other budget line in order to preserve their social security in the future.
I believe Social Security checks usually go out on 16th of the month. Obama can’t even get that straight.
