Eric Cantor: Obama abruptly walked out of debt meeting
Politico ^ | 7/13/11 | JONATHAN ALLEN

“Eric, don’t call my bluff,” the president said, warning Cantor that he would take his case “to the American people.” He told Cantor that no other president — not Ronald Reagan, the president said — would put up with the treatment he was getting from the House majority leader.

The latest and sharpest in a series of harsh exchanges between the two leaders heightened concern that markets could crash at any time amid fear of a reduction in the rating on once-ironclad U.S. debt.

Cantor accused the president and congressional Democrats of progressively low-balling, over the last several days, the savings that could be achieved from proposals discussed by Vice President Joe

Someone neeeds to tell Howdy Doody that this isn’t the only thing bringing his presidency down. We’ve had almost three years of his do nothing attitude, vacations and golf weekends. He is a total failure and the worst president this country has seen.

The petulant child took his toys and went home. They need to drive him over the edge and make him lose it completely in front of the cameras. Don’t give in Cantor!!

Great observation! I think it's pretty clear to everyone now that Bambi CANNOT handle being challenged or criticized and he just blows up when things don't go his way. (Did you see the article about how the WH Press office is upset with certain reporters because they kept calling out unscripted questions and The One doesn't like that?)

I agree that Cantor and Boehner are going about this correctly - if they give Barry enough chances to make a fool of himself, even the MSM won't be able to control all the narratives and the people will finally see what a narcissistic crybaby they put into office!

Let the markets burn. It’s the only way to clear the crap off the decks.

“Eric, don’t call my bluff,” the president said, warning Cantor that he would take his case “to the American people.”

And "taking his case to the American people" turned out to mean using Social Security recipients as human shields. Okay.

Someone said the other day that Obama has two debating styles: Arrogant and petulant.

“It cannot all be on us,” the president said, arguing that Republicans need to give on the revenue side of things as Democrats are willing to do so on spending cuts.

“Don’t call my bluff,” the president said. “I am not afraid to veto and I will take it to the American people.”

The bluff he is talking about is the veto.

We’ll see more dramatics and hysterics from Obama and the congressional Dems before this is done.

The economy is dying. Obama and the media desperately need to gin up a way to hang the dying economy around the necks of Republicans for purposes of the 2012 election.

2012 is for all the marbles as to whether the American people become permanent slaves to a socialist government or follow a path of freedom, prosperity and limited government.

So, he is admitting that he is bluffing. - If “taking it to the American people” is threatening to hold up their Social Security checks; wowzer . . . .

“Obama told Cantor that he would either have to agree to tax increases or give up on his demand that the debt hike be matched dollar-to-dollar to the cuts — that is, $2.5 trillion in deficit-reduction over 10 years in exchange for a $2.5 trillion hike in the debt ceiling.”

Since we’re running up deficits of $1.5T per year, and, at best project dropping that to $800B per year, we’ll run through a $2.5T increase in the debt ceiling in 2-3 years. So why do we talk about 10 year deficit reductions?

The House should do its job. If the bill is structured properly, Reid will not be able to bury it; he has too many vulnerable members.

These Dems are not gonna take a knife for Obama when the price is their constituents SS checks.

It would also help if we continue to burn the phone lines of all congressional offices - especially the RATS.

Call his bluff. He will cave.

That is very good. Should I ever meet you on a lonely road with an ice cream stand nearby, the treat is on me.
