“Cantor’s account of tonight’s meeting is completely overblown,” the aide said, adding that Cantor exhibited “juvenile behavior” by repeatedly interrupting Obama. The aide said House Speaker John Boehner, the top Republican in Congress, must rein in Cantor and “let the grown-ups get to work.”

ERIC!!!.... CALL HIS BLUFF!!!... CALL HIS BLUFF!!!

At least this country HAS a debt ceiling!

If we increase it, we might as well ELIMINATE IT...

which is precisely the type of action that would rightly warrant a downgrading of our national debt.

That’s a classic non-denial denial.

“Eric, don’t call my bluff,”

I'd love to be at the same poker table with O'bozo.

Such a phlegm-wad he is...

Update 2: House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said no progress was made on the talks today.

Update 3: Reuters is reporting that Obama would not back down on a comprehensive deal to raise debt ceiling, even if it jeopardizes his reelection chances.

“Would Ronald Reagan be sitting here,” he reportedly asked. “I’ve reached my limit. This may bring my presidency down, but I will not yield on this.’’

If President Obama does not want to be called “Barry” then he should not be calling the House Majority Leader “Eric”. Titles like “Mr. President” or “Congressman” or “Majority Leader”... are not in the Constitution or prescribed by law; they are social conventions that are two-way streets.

WH spin

Update 4: Democratic aides continue to push back against Cantor’s account, telling NBC’s Luke Russert that Cantor was rude at the end of the meeting, and Obama ended it.

“Dem Aide, no walk out: Cantor rudely interrupted POTUS 3 times to advocate for short-term debt ceiling increases while BO was wrapping mtg,” Russert tweeted.

What is it about three separate but equal branches of government that this tool can’t grasp? We do not have a monarchy.

All part of the show. Between the debt ceiling debate and MediScare, this is the Obama 2012 election centerpieces. He knows Gingrich got his clock cleaned in the court of public opinion in 95’, and he expects to do it again to Boehner and the GOP House.

Unfortunately the American people are absolutely wedded to the social welfare state, they will support not raising the debt limit right up until actual programs start losing funding and then my guess is the public will howl in outrage and demand their freebies back - at which point eventually the GOP will may cave.

This is probably a no win situation for the Republicans, but the right thing to do is hold fast and make sure the public understands that the Republicans are for major cuts in spending and smaller government. We may lose big in the short run, but we’ve got to get back to the public viewing the Republican party as the fiscally responsible, low tax party.
