North Korea faces famine: 'Tell the world we are starving'
More than a decade after North Korea was struck by a famine that killed up to a million people, the country's poorest are once again facing starvation, reports Peter Foster in Yanji

It was an ice-cold day in the North Korean border town of Musan when a small crowd gathered round what looked like a bundle of rags on the platform of the railway station.
"I went up to see what they were looking at," recalled 63-year-old Lee Sun Ok, a North Korean farmer who had come to the city to sell some small rice-cakes she had made to earn money. "And then I saw it was the body of an old man with a piece of cloth placed over his face.
"I asked if he had fallen down because he was sick, but the people shook their heads and said, 'No, he was just too hungry and died for lack of something to eat.'"
Mrs Lee's account is among shocking first hand testimony about the dramatically worsening living conditions in the secretive Stalinist state obtained by The Sunday Telegraph last week.

I’m sure Obama will be happy to offer more of ours. We’re just greedy Americans.
I never thought I would live to see it but a time is coming when the world will have to get by without America for a while. In the sense that they’ll see how much America has done but the flipside is that it will create a more dangerous world.
Can’t we send Moose Shell to NK to explain how eating too many fries will kill you?
To give them any aid would to be an accomplice in their continued enslavement.
Funny how Red China lets ‘em all “starve”.
I imagine the pet population is down too.
P!
scrape the military and sell off the nuclear stockpiles and there would be plenty of money to feed the people.
During the last famine North Koreans stripped the landscape near their homes bare of grass and roots. Already weak, they had to venture further and further from home to scrape vegetation from the ground in order to survive. Their entire days were taken up with foraging and eating things we would never consider putting in our mouths. Apparently it is happening again. They have been dehumanized. No human being should have to live like this.
Eat your nukes and missles.
Michael Moore could share his daily caloric intake and save many lives.
... and birds as well.
Extending a helping hand to the “people” of N. Korea might sound like it’s the right thing to do but it really isn’t. Giving aid would only help to enable the continuation of the circumstances that led to their current situation.
The only hope for the N. Korean people will come when a sizable majority of the military is hungry enough that they are willing to turn their guns towards their leaders and rid themselves of the Stalinist regime that rules over them. Every little bit of “aid” we sent only helps to prolongs that day.
The part of the world that is familiar with the various economic systems and recognizes communism for what it really is already knows they're starving. That's the way it works -- we saw it in the former Soviet Union, Cuba, and saw it in China until they engineered a hybrid system of "communist capitalism."
Yet the Marxists of the world - for instance, our present administration - never seem to learn, do they?
It’s unbelievably sad and tragic that an easy solution can be found for N. Korea’s food problem...and all their other problems actually ...SHOOT KIM JONG-IL!!!
Probably so.
No dogs, no cats, few birds, people eating
belts and shoes.
Communism Works!!!!
