Perry has troubled relationship with tea party
Associated Press ^ | 7/19/11 | April Castro

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — In spite of his thundering speeches against big government, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has a troubled relationship with the tea party, a rift increasingly obvious as he gets closer to a presidential bid.

Tea party groups from New Hampshire to Texas are collaborating to criticize Perry's record on immigration, public health and spending and his former affiliation with the Democratic Party.

Karl Rove says he and consultant David Weeks persuaded Rick Perry to switch parties and run for state agriculture commissioner

Texas Gov. Rick Perry draws mention in GOP consultant Karl Rove’s autobiography with attention
focused on Perry’s win for lieutenant governor in 1998 and Rove’s role in his pivotal earlier
switch from the Democratic to Republican party while he was a third-term member of the Texas House.

Rove writes: “Rick Perry had planned to retire from the legislature until his best friend,
David Weeks, and I talked him into switching parties and running for the GOP nomination for
agriculture commissioner.” His book, “Courage and Consequence, My Life as a Conservative
in the Fight,” was published March 9.

While I was in Houston last year undergoing my major cancer surgeries and rehabilitation afterwards, I saw Rick Perry go to San Antonio and meet with La Raza and basically pander to them to try and get their vote.

I like a lot of what Perry does, but that really upset me and made me question the depth of his commitment to conservative and republican principle.

IMHO, it was a pretty disgusting occurance. Actually, kind of surprised me. I was raised in Texas, buyt have been gone quite a while and am not as familiar with Perry’s history and background as I ougth to be.

I had, to that point, felt he was pretty good...despite misgivings over the entire I35 corridor, Highway of the America’s or whatever they are calling the NAFTA highway these days which I also have trouble with.

I am not impressed with any of the other candidates running and that includes naive politicians like Bachmann who is reduced to defending medications for migraine headaches when her opponent, Obama, won’t release any of his medical records.

Wild shrimp!

I'll make federal funds ... easy!
Wild shrimp!

Wild shrimp, I want to pimp you
But I gotta know for sure.
Will eight mil be enough?
You need it...

Wild shrimp!
My values go limp!
I'm just an earmark pimp
For my wild shrimp!

Freeperville, I.P. — In spite of his thundering speeches in favor of big government, President Barack Obama has a potential parasitic relationship with the tea party, as circular conservative firing squads are encouraged by the mainstream media.

I think everyone knows that by now.

That being said, I'll accept any information, from just about any source on our side, if it uncovers lies/untrue PR about any of our candidates leading up to the Primaries.

Now is the time to vet the candidates and Perry needs a lot of vetting because we have several people on the site, probably Perry Staffers, that are relentless in presenting one side of the Perry story and trying to bury the negative side of Perry.

I'll take everything I can get.

Perry takes a lot of good positions. He would certainly be eons ahead of, and better for the country than Obama.

But I am concerned about the things I mentioned in my earlier post just the same.

I hope, in 2012, we get an all American who gets it right across the board, from abortion to second amendment to the economy to immigration, energy, foreign policy etc.

I believe we are going to have another strong sea change election like 2010 and it would be good to have an executive in there to take full advantage of it and really ebgin to set things back aright.

It’s going to come down to those who want Obama actually out of office, and those who may elect to do a Thelma and Lousise over the proverbial cliff supporting a candidate who will not run and can not win a general election if he/she did declare.

Read where Christie is headed to Iowa to fundraise for Steve King. Curious, maybe? Iowa? Now? Interesting.
A sure winner is Christie/Perry, but Christie is not a conservative but for fiscal policy. However, the people are desperate and that is the number one issue behind the ballot lever.

Perry is whoever he wants to be and very good at it. He brings plenty of Tea to the ticket, but can also sweep up the Independents who will decide this race. The 2012 electorate is desperate for income and the only issue they’re going to be bringing to the ballot box is fiscal conservatism. Texas is EXHIBIT A. If Christie is on the ticket with him, Obama is gone, and the depression begins to end. Does that matter to anyone, anywhere. Hello-oo? Anybody there?

From the article...

“It's real easy to walk into church on Sunday morning and sing from the hymnal. I saw a guy that talked like a tea party candidate but didn't govern like one,” said Debra Medina, a Texas tea party activist who challenged Perry in the 2010 Republican gubernatorial primary.

Medina was the Truther Party (Ron Paul) candidate. The “Tea Party” in the article are Ron Paul supporters who claim he is the original Tea Party candidate.

“truth”freedom is a Paul supporter whose stated purpose is destroying Perry before he enters the race.

...Perry is THE WORST, but it will take some effort to stomp him to dust. The msm likes him, and has been pushing him. I’d say start attacking him, full blast, right now, so he doesn’t get in.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/2749154/posts?page=12#12

The poster, “truth”freedom's political fantasy...

A scenario I like has Paul in, Palin in, and the establishment candidate. And Ron Paul just attacks the establishment candidate. This would result in a Palin vs Paul showdown in the Republican primary which most people would think, based on reason, would result in a Palin win. But the many debates are focused on attacking Obama.
And it’s all win. Then a Palin/Paul ticket.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2749166/posts?page=180#180

Read the entire article...the article makes it clear it's the other candidates that are behind the smear campaign.

"truth"freedom is nothing but an anti-Perry propagandist.

Perry is whoever he wants to be and very good at it.

As much as I despise him and how he's tried to sell us down the river, or rather over the river (the Rio Grande to be precise), he is an incredibly smooth politician. He can address a LULAC state convention and rain down all kinds of praise on them, he can go to Mexico and bash the US Congress for not passing a guest worker bill, but then talk about being tough on illegal immigrant. He can talk about being pro-life or pro-2nd Amendment but still support a pro-abortion and pro-gun control candidate for President. He can criticize Romneycare even after he talked about bi-national health insurance for Mexicans and Texans. He can complain that Obama hasn't secured the border just a few years after he said the federal government's plan for a border wall was "idiocy". He can be all things to all people.

He could have given Bill Clinton a run for his money at his peak, the man is slick. McCain got around 33% of the electoral votes, and I have no doubt that Perry could do better.
