Well this is it folks.. It has been a fun ride.

It is a shame that I didn't get to see those birds launch in person. Oh well should have moved to Florida.

I always enjoyed the double boom when I was physically in Los Angeles and the Shuttle landed at Edwards. I felt I was a participant, of sorts...

But I have been on the East Coast for lo these many years and now might never experience that participation again.

I was driving from Philly to Miami Nonstop in 1978 late july to beat my Moving Truck in Coral Gables. around 1030pm -11pm I am Driving down I95 Paralell to the Launch area wondering what it is like to see a Launch.. all of a sudden on the Left the sky Lites up and I watch a Launch and there is Nobody on 95 at the area.. surreal... I stand Up after Pulling in My Sun Roof.. I stop at a 7-11 and ask if any launches scheduled for tonight ..He says I Dunno.. I Figure out later on it was a Military Satelite Launch..haha

With forecasters predicting near ideal weather, entry Flight Director Tony Ceccacci said Wednesday he’s optimistic about bringing the shuttle Atlantis back to a pre-dawn landing in Florida Thursday to close out NASA’s 135th and final shuttle mission.

I was in Denver at the time and got to see the first shuttle land at Stapleton Airport riding on the back of a 747 .. it was seriously kewl !

I know what you mean, when I was in 1st grade in 1981, on the day after the first space shuttle launched we were given a Space Shuttle Notebook (which I still have). I always wanted to see a launch, the closest I came was in the early 1990's when I was in college, we had gone down to Florida for Spring Break and planned to watch the launch, but it was delayed and we had to go back before they rescheduled it.

I watched one of the first shuttle landings at Edwards AFB.

I saw a shuttle piggybacked on a 747 into Tucson.

Now I’m watching our space program reduced to a mooslimb outreach & glowbull warming hall monitor.

Makes me sick.

Yea, well we could finish the job started if we’d stop spending American money on building Islamic Mosques...both here and around the world.

I am having a hard time watching this....just sad.
