Richard A. Serrano Washington Bureau
July 21, 2011, 3:41 p.m. Reporting from Washington Two days after U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian A. Terry was killed in December, the top ATF supervisors in Phoenix said in internal emails that weapons found at the scene in Arizona came from a failed agency sting operation.
But nearly two months later, when U.S. Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) inquired about the origin of the guns, senior officials in Washington with the Justice Department and its Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms were evasive.
Grassley asked whether the guns were "used" in the killing. According to agency emails obtained by the Tribune/Times Washington bureau, the Justice Department response to Grassley said that "these allegations are not true." The response made no acknowledgement that the guns were even there.

The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Wow, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm surprised by this!
Mark
The real news here is that this article was published by the LA Times.
Still wondering when Issa, Grassley and the rest of the Congressional snails are going to do something substantive on this issue. Probably going to end up like Maxine Waters ethics investigation. It will drag on so long that everyone will forget about it.
Downplay?
Perhaps a more accurate description would be conceal and cover up
The ATF is a revenue laboratory.
Yep. Surprisingly, the LAT has been giving a great deal of attention to this with no spin for the left at all.
Bigger than Watergate and this government is busy trying to convict a baseball player for lying to Congress about fraudulently enhancing his performance ability.
Meanwhile the music industry does the same daily and there are no calls for investigation.
Bread and circuses.
Just a wee bit late to the Gunwalker party, the LA Times is now reporting events which occurred 4 months ago and more! The paper also seems to have avoided the names Holder and Obama! Just an oversight, no doubt.
This guy Serrano is going good work. He is the only MSM person covering this. GOOD FOR HIM!
During hurricane Katrina, the left ceaselessly screeched that President Bush’s policies “murdered helpless minorities.”
If our so called Republican congresscritters had a brain cell amongst them, they would trumpet about how Obama’s administration murdered our border agents.
Then again, if a frog had wings it wouldn’t bump it’s butt on the ground.
I was under the impression that the weapon that killed Terry WAS one of these two and had already been established as a F&F gun. What gives?
Just like Grassley's investigation into the firing of AmeriCorps IG Walpin. Ain't heard much about THAT lately, have ya?
Holder and the asst. AG committed perjury Obama lied and obstructed and Smoking gun document that DOJ won’t release but they have testimony of it’s contents and existence.

Good audio, thanks.
Serrano maybe feel some loyalty to his homeland over typical lefty “protect Obama” LAT jounalism.

I've been trying to follow the Gun Walker story daily. This is the first where they ruled out as the murder weapon these Fast & Furious weapons recovered in the vicinity of where BP Agent Terry was shot. All the other times, it was they were weapons found at the scene and traced to Fast & Furious.
It’s obvious that the only way to defeat the Commies is at the ballot box, while we still can do it.
The major network media organ is NEVER going to shed the light on any major scandal involving a Democrat, or a Democrat administration.
