Unfortunately, the easy way to balance the budget is to increase taxes. Forget about spending cuts.

Here in NJ we have a balanced budget requirement. And for two years running, we’ve balanced our budget without raising taxes. In NEW JERSEY. With a DEM Congress.

70-80% of the American people are demanding a balanced budget. He best demand it. They need to screw down these thieves in Washington and quit paying off their cronies.....here and in other countries.

I don’t think it would ever pass.

Let’s keep our nose on the current problem Mr. Speaker. Obama gets nothing. He is in default already.

To paraphrase the Great Walter E. Williams, a "balanced budget" is not always a good idea:
"Give me 100% of your money, and I promise to spend 100% of it. There! Balanced!"

I have a question for Speaker Boehner: If you spread your spending cuts out over a number of years, how do you plan to bind future Congresses to your plan? What guarantee can you give us that all the spending cuts will be made?

If you can’t answer the question or can’t make the guarantee, then way are you wasting so much time talking about cuts that may never happen?

How ‘bout some real-life cuts that can be made this year and next?

That’s great. Another Republican plan to be killed in the Senate. After Reid buries it Boehner can tiptoe over to the White House again. This is turning into farce.

He should send a clean balanced budget amendment to the Senate. Don’t mix it with the budget legislation.

Please sir; you left out the secret CODE part of his statement. Here is the part you used in your reply, plus the secret code part:

“John Boehner told fellow Republicans on Sunday that he is considering a balanced-budget amendment to the Constitution .....as part of a bill that would raise the debt ceiling.

The secret code message is that he will camouflage the DEBT CEILING INCREASE behind a phony-baloney Balanced Budget Amendment. Result? The debt ceiling will be raised by at least a Trillion, and the BBA will go to the states for ratification. Boner, Reid, Cantor and everyone else, right down to cute little Todd Platts from my state KNOW for a lead pipe cinch that IT WON’T BE RATIFIED with so many states having democRAT governors and/or ‘RAT legislatures. And the 61% of Americans who DO NOT WANT an increase in the debt limit will have been given the one-finger salute and told to go pound sand!

So Obluffer will be off the hook for the 2012 election and can beat his chest and take credit for a great victory, when all the while it was OUR guys who grabbed their ankles and GAVE him the victory, KNOWING full well what they were doing. And our children and grandchildren will be in hock at least another Trillion to the Chi-Coms! At this point, every cent the government spends is BORROWED money!

Funny, since Boehner and his colleages doing absolutely NOTHING on the “debt ceiling” would have the effect of forcing a balanced budget. It’s called “pay as you go,” just like most Americans must do.

Republicans control 26 legislatures.

Approval from 38 are needed for ratification.

EVERY STATE, except Vermont, has a Balanced Budget Amendment in its own state constitution.

8 legislatures are split, 1 is officially "non partisan" (NE). 15 are controlled by Rats.

If no expiration date is added, an infinite length of time can be taken. Just look at the 27th. It took about 200 years but was finally ratified.

Even DeMint figures 10 years for ratification. The point is, it'll be out among the states.
