Boehner Calls Rush Limbaugh, Gives Details of Negotiations With Reid, McConnell
Monday, July 25, 2011 | Kristinn

Rush Limbaugh said Speaker of the House John Boehner phoned him this morning around 10:30 to brief him on the latest news about his negotiations with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to raise the nation's debt ceiling.

Limbaugh told about the conversation on his nationally syndicated radio program. Boehner said there is a two-tier plan in the works. Step one would cut $1.1 trillion in spending with a $1 trillion increase in the debt that would get the government to April 2012 with no tax increases.

The next tier would be recommended cuts by a joint House-Senate committee made by twelve members, six from each chamber with three each appointed by each leader, Boehner, Reid, McConnell and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Limbaugh said that McConnell is now on the same page as Boehner.

Okaaaay. For some reason, I don't find that reassuring.

The debt ceiling will be raised immediately.

The spending will be cut . . . sometime.

“Okaaaay. For some reason, I don’t find that reassuring.”

If these guys can bring about a resolution without input from Obama, it’s a win for a lot of reasons.

My disgust knows no bounds for this Super Congress idea.

But, the one saving grace is that Obama won’t sign it it if it ends before the election...and the Dems will be scared of it.

And if the six Democrats don’t agree with the six Republicans and the President veto’s anything they come up with? These people are fools.

The $1.1 trillion in “cuts” (actually reduced increases in spending, given DC-speak) will be over the next 5-10 years. The Debt Increase would be for RIGHT NOW.

That just doesn’t work for me.

Every freaking poll out there shows the vast majority of the public wants the debt under control...now. We’ve got the ability to hold Congressional Dems feet to the fire and make a good deal without President Fool Sucka.

The next tier would be recommended cuts by a joint House-Senate committee made by twelve members, six from each chamber with three each appointed by each leader, Boehner (Quasi-RINO), Reid (Marxist), McConnell (RINO) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Marxizt).

This is a great idea! What could possible go wrong??? /sarc

Conn Carroll at the Washington Examiner frets the Boehner plan may lead to adoption of Simpson-Bowles $1 trillion tax increases.

Boehner has held the line on rate increases, but has already agreed to $800 in "new revenue."

Fox News radio reports at 1 p.m. EDT that Boehner is working on a $900 billion increase with $1 trillion in cuts.

Just heard it on Rush and he is also correct, who cares about the Asian market. Heck, the DOW is down a small amount (under 40 points) so I would stick with CCB and leave it as that. We are not going to have a “free falling” market and I just heard an announcement that SS Checks will go out. Looks like Obama lost the battle again.

We can not “kick the can down the road” anymore. No more commissions. Cut the budget now, period.

The house presently has control of the purse strings with the republicans in control of the house. Now they are setting up a 12 member committee with a maximum of three tea party members voting. One of the republican senators will cave and the democrats will get whatever they want.

This is how they are going to marginalize the tea party.

According to Rush, other things Boehner told him were:

The spending cuts would not be accounting gimmicks, but actual cuts. There would be no cut in military spending.

The deal would include an agreement to bring the balanced budget amendment to a vote.

Boehner would not disclose who he would put on the committee, or when the cuts would take place.

I didn’t get the impression at all that Rush was exactly happy with this deal, but he was pretty close to the vest with his own opinion of it.

Let er drop. We will pick up the pieces( if SOMETHING really happens)and begin to rebuild our country's financial stability.( I have a feeling that this scare tactic is similar to the Y-2K and Obammma’s stimulus scare).
Republicans better stand strong, this is the time America has to show its’ backbone.
