A Fast And Furious Assault On Private Gun Sales

The Obama administration lost no time determining where to place primary blame for border violence. During a joint April 16, 2009, White House press conference with President Felipe Calderon of Mexico, President Obama stated that more than 90% of all guns recovered by Mexican authorities came from the United States. He had previously made the same claim in February of that year, further asserting that many of those firearms came from...

--snip--

Representative Issa is certain that most top Justice Department officials knew about the Fast and Furious operation. He has also stated, regarding Holder, that either “He knew, and he’s lied to Congress, or he didn’t know, and he’s so detached that he wasn’t doing his job.”

A July 27 Investor’s Business Daily editorial asserts that while Attorney General Holder and President Obama have disavowed any knowledge of the ATF actions, Holder told the House Judiciary Committee in May that he had first been informed about the operation “in the last few weeks”. Yet the publication has documented that Holder himself had boasted about the program to Mexican officials in Cuernavaca, Mexico on April 2, 2009, telling a very different story. He told the audience: “Last week, our administration launched a major new effort to break the backs of the cartels. My department is committing 100 new ATF personnel to the southwest border in the next 100 days to supplement our ongoing Project Gunrunner.”

President Obama told reporters at a July 29 press conference: “As you know, my attorney general has made clear he certainly would not have ordered gun-running to pass through Mexico.” However, a video shows former Deputy Attorney General David Ogden telling reporters at a DOJ briefing of steps to expand Gunrunner “as part of the administration’s comprehensive plan” and as the “President has directed us.”...

Makes Watergate look like a church bake sale. Which is ironic because the Lib press cut their teeth on Watergate and they are pretty silent on this one.

The village idiots, AKA Obama,Biden,Holder, and Napolitano, never think about wars and covert and overt OPS in Honduras, El Salvador, down to Panama that purposely put weapons in those folks hands. Then the drug cartels bought them. Also, after RVN several gun dealers told me they along with foreigners from many nations were offered huge wharehouses of US weapons after the South Viets surrendered.

90% of the guns collected were those that he and his administration sent over there. That’s a little game that was being played trying to convince people it was true across the board.

The lib press hated Nixon, and they love obama, they will do everything in their power to sweep this under the rug.

In a perfect world, both obammy and Holder would be impeached immediately. They both had to have given their permission for this idiotic thing. I think they will use this as a back door way for them to try to confiscate more of our guns.

Nope...they wanted to prove that 90% of the weapons they captured came from the US. Only way they could do that was send them across the border so they could be captured.

I doubt that we have the votes to convict and remove. It's better to do it with the campaign in the backround next year, IMHO. 17 rat senators want to keep their job.

Good luck trying to confiscate the “guns” of the 1st and 2nd Marine Divisions. Better to stick a rattler in your underpants and try to pull out the right “snake” when you gotta go.

F&F/Castaway so far has killed 250 Mexican cops and 2 badged federal US officers.

The goal was to kill.

What direction is the US headed in, when the TOP guy at Justice & probably the POTUS has a secret operation to KILL many Mexican people, including cops....?

Consider that one, as the economy tanks.

Yup, the was a wide-spanning, large-scale operation. It’s clear:

Assistant Attorney General (Criminal Division) Lanny Breuer got a Power Point presentation on Fast and Furious.

July 28, 2011 Senior ATF, Justice officials ignored Mexico-based agents’ complaints, bragged about Fast and Furious successes

Gil and now-acting ATF attaché to Mexico Carlos Canino also told congressional investigators high-ranking ATF and Justice Department officials bragged about what they considered successes of Operation Fast and Furious. Officials they said included Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer, who oversees the DOJ’s criminal division, and acting ATF director Ken Melson.

“Lanny Breuer says, yeah, there is a good case, there is a good case out of Phoenix,” Canino said of a meeting he and Gil had with Breuer and the U.S. ambassador to Mexico, Carlos Pascual.

Gil said Breuer was going to present the outcome of Operation Fast and Furious to Mexican authorities as evidence of a positive effort to stop weapons trafficking. Gil said Breuer said the ATF investigation “looks like it’s going to generate some good results and it will be a good positive case that we can present to the Government of Mexico as efforts that the US government is taking to try and interdict weapons going into Mexico.”

The National Scope of the Gunwalker Scandal. Lanny Breuer & four border state ATF SACs implicated in report. "Lions! And tigers! And bears! Oh, my!"

Two months after the January 5, 2010 briefing, ATF headquarters hosted a larger, more detailed briefing. Not part of the normal Tuesday field ops briefings, this special briefing was dedicated to Operation Fast and Furious. David Voth, the Phoenix Group VII Supervisor who oversaw Fast and Furious, traveled from Phoenix to give the presentation. On videoconference were the four southwest border ATF SACs: Bill Newell in Phoenix, Robert Champion in Dallas, J. Dewey Webb in Houston, and John Torres in Los Angeles. (Emphasis supplied, MBV)

In addition to the usual attendees of the Tuesday morning field ops briefings (the Deputy Assistant Directors for Field Operations, including Bill McMahon, and Mark Chait, Assistant Director for Field Operations), Deputy Director William Hoover also attended. Joe Cooley, a trial attorney from the gang unit at Main Justice, also joined. After a suggestion from Acting ATF Director Ken Melson in December 2009, Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer personally assigned Cooley as a DOJ representative for Operation Fast and Furious. Kevin Carwile, chief of the Capital Case Unit at Main Justice, may have also been present. According to Steve Martin, the inclusion of Main Justice representatives was unusual.

Gunwalker and Fast & Furious Updates: Holder, DOJ, FBI, Operation Castaway, ATF

Email Confirms ‘Gunwalker’ Known Throughout Justice Department The October 27, 2009 email from ATF Phoenix Field Division Special Agent in Charge (SAC) William Newell regarded a Southwest Border Strategy Group meeting that focused on Fast and Furious. It contained a laundry list of high ranking Justice Department officials that attended the meeting, including:

* Assistant Attorney General (Criminal Division) Lanny Breuer, * Kenneth Melson, Acting Director, ATF * William Hoover, Acting Deputy Director, ATF * Michele Leonhart, Administrator, DEA * Robert Mueller, Director FBI

Four other Justice Department directors or their representatives came from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), Bureau of Prisons (BOP), U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and the Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA). The chair of the Attorney Generals Advisory Committee (AGAC) also attended the session. Their names were redacted in the released document. U.S. attorneys for all four southwest border states also attended...

What if president Barack Hussein Obama, POTUS and the CIC of the armed forces, orders the Marines to turn in their weapons?

Wouldn’t it be mutiny if they did not?

Just asking.

Dont impeach Obama, impeach his underlings. Puts in the press, lets the Dem’s have room to scapegoat someone and still reflects poorly on the administration. By the way, it permantly removes them from serving in any government position.

If Issa & Grassley's hearings turn up evidence or testimony that Obama knew and approved that weapons without tracking devices were walking to drug cartels, impeachment wouldn't be limited the underlings, IMHO.

Given that the Senate is controled by the Dems, an Impeachment charge against Obama is a waste of time.

“What if president Barack Hussein Obama, POTUS and the CIC of the armed forces, orders the Marines to turn in their weapons?

Great questions.

If it was mutiny, so what? What would the boy king do about it?

As a member of the USMC, I’m on my own pages. I’m faithful to God, country and family, not obuma or the president’s office. Deal with that, obuma.

Let me tell you a brief story.

During the Clinton fiasco, questions were asked about what might happen if the cigar chief ordered the military out to shoot civilians. Well, we took a survey. Among enlisted, those people with a year or two in the military, about 60%, said they’d shoot civilians if ordered to do so.

Now, this is why God created NCOs. About 90% of NCOs would never allow PFCs to shoot civilians. If a private started shooting civilians, he’d be dead in about 3 seconds.

Let’s go up the command structure. That same poll found that 90% of officers identified themselves as Republicans or conservatives.
