Matt Damon on debt limit: 'I'm so disgusted,' 'it's criminal' wealthy are not paying higher taxes

Academy award-winning actor Matt Damon said he is "so disgusted" with what's happening in Washington over the debt limit, claiming that the Tea Party is "willing to drive it all off a cliff" and adding that it's "criminal" the wealthy are not paying higher taxes.

"I'm so disgusted man. I mean, no, I don't know what you do in the face of that kind of intransigence. You know, so my heart does go out to the President. He is dealing with a lot," Damon said in an exclusive interview at the "Save Our Schools March" in Washington, D.C. on Saturday.

When asked if he agrees with President Obama's call for a "balanced approach" as part of a deal to raise the debt limit, Damon said, "Yes, the wealthy are paying less than they've paid in any time else, certainly in my lifetime."

He continued, "It's criminal that like, you know, so little is asked of people who are getting so much, I mean, I don't mind paying more. I really don't mind paying more taxes. I'd rather pay for taxes than cut like 'Reading is Fundamental' or 'Head Start' or some of these programs that are really helping kids. I mean, why not? This is the greatest country in the world. Is it that much worse if you pay 6 percent more in taxes? Give me a break. You know, look at what you get for it. You get to be American."

Damon did not say the highest percentage he would be willing to pay in taxes but argued for tax reform.

"I mean, why not raise it per million bucks? Right? And then cap it somewhere," he said.

Damon also said those making over $250,000 per year are not job creators.

"Nobody went and started a business with their Bush tax cut. You know, I don't know who would believe something – that just defies common sense so no, that's – no. I was against those tax cuts. I thought they were ridiculous. So little is asked of the upper class anyway, you know. I mean, what percent of them or their kids are fighting in any of these wars?" he said.

Damon also called the Tea Party "completely intransigent" in terms of the debt ceiling debate.

"It's true. They are absolutely willing to drive it all off a cliff. They mean what they say, that's for sure," he said.

These fools should be immediately asked to asked to make public their tax returns to ensure they are not paying their minimal tax.

They should also be asked to immediately and publicly pledge a certain portion of their WEALTH in order to be fair.

It reminds of these hypocritical environmentalists (including Obama) flying around in corporate jets or AF#1.

He's dumber than I thought. Many people making that do own small businesses. And they also buy more luxury items and spends more money at the theater, for dinner, clothing ect.. Ergo, more jobs, dumb donkey.

When their behavior isn’t consistent, you’re applying the wrong criteria.

When you consider that they are elitists, and the only reason to promote “environmentalism” is to empower the elites and impoverish the “peasants”, then it all makes sense.

This turd thinks he knows better because he rote repeated a few lines in a movie directed by f@gs who had his arse like a good little pinochio who thought he was a real boy.

Damon is, well, a know it all know nothing little wuss who ought to shut the heck up. As if he knew more than those rich people! He really thinks like Zero in chief, like he is so cool or something and that it is enough.

He does not feel so perfect and pretty, and it must be all our fault. HE is a little two bit tyrant of looks like all the others, as if we had no better things to do other than listening to him and watch his idiot movies.

Matt Damon on debt limit:

Why does anybody care about the political opinions of an entertainer that amuses them at a movie theater any more than they care about the political opinions of the butcher that grinds up their hamburger at Publix Supermaket?

Exactly, you said it better than I did. I’m so mad I can’t think straight. To many of these liberals have diarrhea of the mouth and constipation of the brain.

The majority of those who benefited from the Bush Tax cuts did not spend it to create jobs. That’s because the recipient of the largest cut was the $30-40K income bracket.

It’s like Martha in the Bible who calls on her sister to keep cleaning the house and pay no heed to Christ. She is jealous, she is not prettied up by her sister, but Christ is. She wants it all, she is a tyrant who wants to keep her sister down in perfecting things around, instead of seeing that there are other things we can be perfect about and which are worthier, like our souls, fortitudes and other better endeavors of justice which matter more.

MArtha Martha MArtha, Damon Damon Damon, they all want to be prettied up by tax payers and those paying their movie tickets.

I am boycotting Holywood from here on out.

Then, Matt... out of fairness, when you and Ben fill out your joint tax return, you should surrender to the IRS the same portion of YOUR income that you think these awful millionaires and billionaires should have to pony up.

They all think they are in this cult of “pretty me Venus” and worthy of it. Ah! They are not demigods, let alone gods.

Is matt damon paying more to the federal government? not his own volunteer BS, but to the IRS voluntary federal government payment.

Anyone who makes these bonehead statments should be forced to answer if they have given 80% of their money DIRECTLY to the fed.
