SAN ANGELO, Texas — Warren Jeffs' trial could end this week, depending on what a defense attorney chooses to do for the punishment phase of the polygamous sect leader.

The prosecution said it had about two solid days of testimony when the punishment phase of Jeffs' trial started late Thursday.

Earlier that day, Jeffs, 55, the leader and "prophet" of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl and of sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl.

The state alleges an array of "bad acts" by Jeffs, including six instances of illegal sexual conduct and taking part in hundreds of bigamous marriages, all before running from the FBI and threatening governments with God's judgment. He also had 78 of his own "wives," the state said, including 24 to underage girls.

The FLDS sanctions taking "spiritual" or "celestial" wives to circumvent bigamy laws.

The jury heard testimony amid the tears of two witnesses who claimed to have been victims of Jeffs, that he allegedly abused a girl who was almost 8 and a boy who was 5 more than 20 years ago.

"If I told anyone, I would burn in hell," Brett Jeffs said his uncle told him when he was allegedly raped in a bathroom while Warren Jeffs' brothers stood guard outside.

and their mothers dont have a bond with their own off spring...

When the children were resecued many of the 400 were not with their natural mothers

Maybe so, but in his dictations when ever he refers to a ‘wife’ who displeases him he mentions giving them a “correction.” I image if it's ever revealed what that really is we'd all get sick.

One of the mind tricks he played with the women of YFZ was to make them keep a suitcase packed. Whenever he got some transmission from one of his gods - or probably a tip from a spy, he sent them to one of the other ‘R's’ (Refuge) or parked them in a House of Hiding.

BTW: The R system is how many hours drive the compound is from Short Creek.

For example, Eldorado is a 17 hour drive from Short Creek. R-23 is 23 hours and so forth.

The brain washing is so intense that when she left her oldest daughter ran to the wife that was the ‘enforcer’ and told her Carolyn was stealing the prophets children.

Right, Miz. But the problem is as soon as he goes away (if the jury decides he does) another man will step up and take his place.

When I see the apologists talk about ‘wholesome’ and family and bread baking - I know exactly where they are going.

They're going to say Jeffs was a bad man, but basically the FLDS is OK. They are good parents (except the water boarding) and the girls have free agency, there is no force (except being brain washed that you are going to the hell of all hells.) etc. Bank on it.

However they refuse to believe anything bad about their way of life. The more I read about the flds, Jeffs etc & I've been reading for years the more disgusted I become. I think the flds bank should be broken, the welfare the women got be paid back & the men & boys he tossed out given some money. Maybe the only way to break these cults is to take their money. I used to think the wives were not allowed to do much but then I saw a show where they seemed to be more informed or maybe told what to say. I think they know more then they let on. I am not buying the innocent brainwashing stuff 100% anymore. I just think cult. And I want the mothers who toss their sons out on the streets & hand their little girls to pervs on trial too. Of course what I want doesn't matter. This thing is a huge mess & Jeffs need to hang. Maybe he will in jail. You never know.
