Actor Corey Feldman: Pedophilia #1 Problem for Child Stars, Led to Death of Corey Haim
ABC TV ^ | 8/11/11

Posted on 08/13/2011 6:48:04 AM PDT by Dr. Scarpetta

Corey Feldman has no idea what it's like not to be famous. After all, he starred in a McDonald's ad when he was just 3 years old.

"I literally was famous before I knew my own name," he said in an interview with ABC News' "Nightline."

The ad led to roles in films such as "Stand By Me," "Goonies" and "License to Drive." He was a household name before he could read.

But being famous and underage, he said, caused serious damage to him and his friends, including loss of innocence and a lost childhood.

Watch the full story on the "Primetime Nightline: Celebrity Secrets" special "Underage and Famous," on ABC.

"I can tell you that the No. 1 problem in Hollywood was and is and always will be pedophilia. That's the biggest problem for children in this industry. ... It's the big secret," Feldman said.

"I was surrounded by [pedophiles] when I was 14 years old. … Didn't even know it. It wasn't until I was old enough to realize what they were and what they wanted … till I went, Oh, my God. They were everywhere," Feldman, 40, said.

The trauma of pedophilia contributed to the 2010 death of his closest friend and "The Lost Boys" co-star, Corey Haim, Feldman said.

"There's one person to blame in the death of Corey Haim. And that person happens to be a Hollywood mogul.

I believe him. I believe it applies in politics too. God will not be mocked and these old molesters will face judgment day, despite what they currently “believe.”

Hey there are a lot of people who were impressed by Michael Jackson’s talent. I believe you are trying to deflect the truth here by making this thread about Michael Jackson.

PEDOPHILES RAGE THROUGHOUT HOLLYWEIRD AND WASHINGTON DC and that is the point.

Hey, I got a great idea! Let’s give celebrities a media platform to bloviate about public policy and let’s all take them seriously! No important public policy issue should be made unless congress hears testimony from Sally Fields on farm policy and Jackson Brown on nuclear power and Matt Damon on economic policy. I mean, what could possibly go wrong? And Congress doesn’t have anything more important to do, does it?

It takes great courage to take on Hollywood. I don't doubt at all what Corey Feldman is claiming. Between the morally bankrupt producers, moguls, directors, etc, and the pressures child actors are under with their ambitious stage parents who are pushing them into the limelight, it is the exception rather than the rule when one of these kids grows up to be normal.

I would guess that he’s afraid to spill the beans because he doesn’t have hard evidence. I don’t know what he gains by coming out with this information because saying this without naming names will still taint his image. Not that he has much of an image left...but nonetheless, it would do that.

I too was impressed by Michael Jackson’s talent and I’m not trying to make this thread about Michael Jackson. I’m saying that Feldman has no credibilty talking about hollywood and pedophilia when he idolized and emulated a weirdo and pedofile like Jackson. Granted he was a kid at the time and may have come under his influence but when he wears the hat and the similar hair lock at Jackson’s funeral in honor of Jackson, I don’t think we should take his views too seriously.

I like Jackson’s music but I wouldn’t hang around him.

Indeed. Childhood memories, in a court of law, against rich and powerful Hollywood types.. Corey would be sued into oblivion. I wouldn't go up against the Powers that Be in Uber Hollywood (PBUH)..

I believe completely what Feldman says and I wouldn't name names yet, either.

A few survived, like the Cameron kids Kirk and Candice, stronger in their Christianity.

My daughter (aged 27) has been working full time & going for her JD for the last 4 years and just now started watching a little tv.

She remarked just last night how awful tv is for kids and what a horrible message a lot of teen shows send: the parents are stupid and to be mocked, made fun of, or ignored. And the kids run rampant with no moral values.

She grew up with "Saved By The Bell" and 90210 which, by today's standards, were pretty tame!

Yeah, because the mistakes we make at 14 must haunt us the rest of our lives. Right?

I’m glad that someone is finally admitting to being a victim. The Hollywood abuse machine has gone ignored for far too long. Can anybody with any sensitivity deny that Roddy McDowell and Liz Taylor were abused? Jodie Foster is another painfully obvious case. The X-rated “film makers” in West Hollywood are almost better, in that they only use over-18 people in production of their “art.”

I’m not saying that children should not or cannot innocently participate in public entertainment, just that I would never allow my kids to do anything more than a Christmas play. I grew up too close the entertainment industry to do otherwise.

No, you learn from them and don’t repeat them. And don’t help to build up people who take advantage of young boys and girls and then warn about it.

Maybe it wouldn't do any good to name names but at least we would know who these pervs are. Polanski had to flee to France and can't do a whole lot of traveling to say the least. While he may not have been appropriately punished for his crimes, it's better than doing nothing.

In her auto/bio, Shirley Temple wrote that, when she was a child star, mogul George Jessel exposed himself to her......getting a cheap thrill at her expense.

In 1934, Jessel married silent movie star Norma Talmadge who was married at the time that they started their affair. After their divorce in 1939, he broke into her house with a pistol and fired shots at her current lover.

Jessel was acclaimed and lionized by Hollywood---producing movies, and getting all manner of top jobs.

He was considered a humanitarian----and was active in the Civil Rights movement.

In 1969 even the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored him....the pedophile was awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, a Special Academy Award.

Ewww, strange vibes coming off that picture.

Same vibes from back when The Waltons’ grandpa was on tv. Didn’t find out until just recently why. He thought there was no better teacher for a 14 year old boy than a gay guy. Sick just thinking about that cast of kids on the show.

Reading this I was immediately reminded of Puzo's novel The Godfather and the character of the "Hollywood bigshot" Jack Woltz. There's an episode in the book that was heavily edited for the screen where Tom Hagen, waiting to meet Woltz, witnesses a mother prostituting her young daughter to the producer. I wish I could cut and pace an excerpt as it's a shocking scene.

I always assumed Puzo included it because it represented reality in Hollywood.

A key part in the interviews is when Feldman’s long-time manager is asked about Feldman’s allegation as to what contributed to the death of Corey Haim, and the manager, Snyder, does not confront the question directly but deflects it by pointing the blame to over-bearing parents.

I am sure over-bearing parents are part of the problem, but, in the interview at least, the manager, Snyder, seems to not want to address the pedophilia claims of Feldman.

Does he know more than he is saying? Most likely.

Agreed. Those vibes again even when Jodie Foster was a kid. When I was a kid and had no clue about such things, I felt sorry for her and could hardly watch anything she was in. She seemed to have such a great sorrow about her.
