One of us is playing dumb and it’s not me.

Your post to which I responded was about the Straw Poll, not some so-called Push Poll which took place a week ago.

Really!

Stop making a fool of your self.

Reading one post out of context is always dangerous.

Nobody called the Iowa Straw Poll a push poll. The push polls were done to prepare Perry for Iowa, and they failed miserably. The Media/elite’s candidate is a flopped loaf.

“The Muslim community has a significant number of political conservatives, and they do support Perry,” said Mustafaa Carroll, executive director of the Council on American Islamic Relations in Houston, a group that took a position against Perry’s recent Christian-only prayer rally. Houston Chronicle

So because some conservative Texas Muslims have supported Perry, while CAIR has criticized him, MestaMachine claims, "cair supports him…"

That pig won't fly.

Perry is a very legitimate threat to horses that people have already picked so expect much more vitriolic posts about the guy. It’s the same story every time here.

He is not perfect but seems to be pretty conservative, has a solid record, is definitely pro-business, has made budgets, runs the state doing the best, and most importantly - He will destroy Obama!!!!!!!!!

Defeating Obama and his minions and reversing some of the damage he has done is my prayer. Perry is looking pretty good to me but we have many months before it counts. However, we need to focus on congress as well because any Republican President will be handcuffed with Harry Reid.

From your article ..

“We haven’t seen him take an anti-(Muslim) community or pro-(Muslim) community stance. He just never came down on it,” said Elibiary.”
and
“Perry has signed off on a couple pieces of legislation they lobbied for, including halal regulations”

hey it is a concern I have. I would like for him to come out and decry it. But I think he is just too worried about the muslim votes.

If he is worried now, i can’t imagine he will get a backbone later.

Perry seems be the establishment choice. Figures they would pick a former demoncrapologist. So what caused him to swim his way out of cess pool to the shoreline? Or did he merely dust off his gifted expensive cowboy boots to do a shift change midstream?

Did you notice that he was way down near the bottom in Iowa? He’s going to fold his pup tent as fast as he propped it up.

That's an interesting prediction. I have another one.

Bachmann and Romney are going to team up. Bachmann isn't top ticket material, but she's a tough conservative attack dog. Romney has money and presidential bearing for days, but no actual credentials. They need each other, with political symmetry that no other candidates have.

Even as the primaries heat up, people will notice that she refuses to draw any Romney blood, just as she hasn't until now. God help her if they team up early, or she'll become persona non grata on FR.

Pawlenty, Gingrich, Santorum, Cain and Huntsman will drop out within the next two months, maxiumum. By the winter it will be down to Bachmann, Romney and Perry. By the time the nomination is over, it will be down to Perry.

Palin might change that, but her window to jump in is passing as we type. If she's not in within a week, her odds of stopping Perry before the old guard and the grass roots coalesce around him will drop off fast. I get that you don't like Perry, but he negates a lot of demand for Palin politically. He chose a very good time to jump in and steal her thunder.

For all the Sun Tzu applause that Palin gets (and deservedly so, I would note), she's been beaten to key political terrain by another politician. The land between the establishment (Romney) and the grass roots (Palin). If she doesn't act fast, he'll consolidate and hold it.

Romney has no options, other than to link up with Bachmann and hope his cash and her fire is enough to seal the deal.

You make no sense.
Perry has established his credentials in the Great State of Texas, the reddest State in the Union. Have you read our Republican Platform? Perry has survived nearly 11 years with maybe 3 problems with the Platform, and those are not deal-breakers. Obviously.

Perry has demanded that Republicans stop trying to get the left to like us. He will not apologize for his worship of the Creator as the source of our inalienable rights. He is pro-life and understands why he’s pro-life - from conception to natural death.

He fights for one man one woman marriage and championed our Defense of Marriage amendment to the State Constitution. He is certainly pro-2nd amendment and carries when out jogging (don’t mess with his dog).

There’s been criticism of his Emerging Technology Fund and other recruiting of businesses for Texas. However, he has used the opportunities he’s had to bring hi-tech biotechnology and his connections to encourage Caterpillar and other industry to move more manufacturing to Texas.

All of the above explains why he says he “came to my senses” about trying to change the Democratic Party from within.

She (Palin) still may get in...yawn Perry is already in who needs her.

This nation needs her, that's who.

Perry is the classic professional politician who checks how the wind is blowing to see which way he should proceed. Hence he switched from demoncrapologist to Republican. He goes for the muslim vote, and the brown vote. Whatever it takes to get himself elected. So when Texas dumped Richards, he saw the light, and had a "calling."

Once again, he has another "calling," this time to be President. Anyone else got caller ID? I'd like to have that number on my contact list. I'll put it on speed dial.

He was personal friends with the aga khan for many years before the hoedown in Texas. Perry and his family even visited with him in Paris. This didn’t just start.

Perry to host Muslim sect’s spiritual leader
Aga Khan, governor to sign UT pact with Mideast university.
By W. Gardner Selby
AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF
Friday, April 11, 2008
Texas Gov. Rick Perry plans to host a private dinner followed by fireworks near Austin on Saturday to honor the Aga Khan, a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad celebrating his 50th year as the spiritual leader of a Muslim sect.

Earlier in the day, the leaders are expected to be on hand as the University of Texas signs an agreement with Aga Khan University, which has campuses in Pakistan and other countries, fostering student and teacher exchanges between the institutions.

Rick Perry Governor has been friends with Aga Khan for years.
Aga Khan Harvard grad is descendant of the Prophet Muhammad.
Khan, a wealthy, Harvard-educated businessman and philanthropist, leads the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims, an offshoot of the Shiite branch of Islam, claiming 12 million to 16 million believers in 25 countries including tens of thousands in Texas.

Perry, 58, and Khan, 71, struck up an improbable friendship nearly a decade ago, resulting in a UT program exposing schoolteachers to Muslim beliefs and culture.

The jet-setting Khan grew up in Kenya and lives in France and owns hundreds of race horses. Perry was born and raised in West Texas before earning a degree at Texas A&M University.

In 2000, Perry, then lieutenant governor, visited the Aga Khan in Paris during a family trip to Europe.

Two years later, Perry and the Aga Khan visited during the opening of the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Center built in Sugar Land near Houston and at an Austin dinner hosted by Perry.

The Aga Khan Development Network subsequently funded the UT program, which has introduced 80 Texas schoolteachers to Muslim history and culture; 15 teachers have toured the Middle East, Europe and Asia.

In 2006, Perry visited a Pakistan relief center financed by the network. And last year, Perry looked at an unfinished Ismaili center in Dubai that a travel mate described as an architectural and cultural wonder that the Aga Khan is expected to replicate, to a degree, in Houston.

Eric Bearse, an outside adviser to Perry, said Saturday’s “golden jubilee” event at the Texas Disposal Systems Exotic Game Ranch and Pavilion in Buda is “an opportunity for His Highness to be in the presence of a vibrant Ismaili community in Texas as well as to be with his friend, the governor.”

Perry and his wife, Anita, will dine with the religious leader at a downtown hotel tonight.

Shahed Amanullah of Austin, editor-in-chief of altmuslim.com, said the Aga Khan has a solid reputation among Muslims because of his good works, partly through the development network. The network spends $350 million a year on economic, social and cultural projects concentrated in South Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

“There are a lot of non-Ismaili Muslims around the world who wish they had a leader that is as organized and as visionary,” Amanullah said

Perry, who is a member of a Methodist church, and the Aga Khan emphasize the need for the Western world to understand Eastern values and vice versa. After the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the Aga Khan said differences between Muslim-dominated countries and the Christian-dominant West don’t reflect the clash of civilizations so much as clashes of ignorance.

Neither Perry’s office nor members of the Ismaili community said who is paying for Saturday’s invitation-only party nor did they divulge who will attend it. Perry spokesman Robert Black said it would not be financed by the state or from economic development funds.

About 20,000 to 30,000 people are expected to hear the Aga Khan on Sunday in San Antonio. His U.S. schedule also includes stops in Georgia, Illinois and California.

Noor Jehan, whose family owns an Austin dry-cleaning business, intends to spend the weekend in San Antonio for the jubilee. “It’s a big, big occasion for us,” Jehan said.

Asked if Ismaili Muslims liken the Aga Khan’s standing to the stature of the pope for Catholics, Jehan said. “He’s not a pope, who’s elected by cardinals. The Aga Khan is not elected by anybody. ... He is a very special leader.”

Jehan was referring to the Aga Khan becoming Imam or spiritual leader of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims in July 1957, succeeding his grandfather, Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan III, a former president of the League of Nations.

Aga Khan

Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Dec. 13, 1936

Grew up in Nairobi, Kenya

Attended Swiss boarding school before Harvard University, where he graduated with honors with a degree in Islamic history

Succeeded his grandfather, Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan, as the Ismaili Imamat at the age of 20 on July 11, 1957, becoming the 49th hereditary spiritual leader (Imam) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims

Wealth reportedly exceeds $1 billion

Owns two jets, stud farms and hundreds of race horses

Not sure there was only three. But will agree, all were very serious flaws for conservatives.

Moreover, I don't care how many coats of polish he puts on his boots, he's still a demoncrapologist, only now coated with RINO snake oil.

On behalf of the Palinistas, let me offer apologies for one of our most pathetic trolls getting loose and polluting your candidate’s thread. We’re really trying to get a handle on them but sometimes one gets away from us.

Just beat him like a rented mule...we do ;)

Thanks for posting from Realville. At the very least, we now can see a clear path to defeating Romney. That is Job 1. My sister lives in S Carolina and she was very impressed with Perry's prayer event. By primary time, I can see Mitt scoring in the single digits there.

-——My sister lives in S Carolina——

In my view, the politics of South Carolina will be shown to trump that of Iowa.

Iowa is a press event. South Carolina is meat ant potatoes reality

New Hampshire is also a press event.

South Carolina and Florida will tell the tale.

If you liked big government G. W. Bush, you’ll absolutely love one world government socialist Rick Perry.

The first problem with your scenario is it assumes that Romney's unethical and dubious gamesmanship would somehow be discounted by the truly principled Michele Bachmann. Bachmann will never team up with the likes of atheistic socialist Romney.

The second problem with your scenario is that you assume that Americans will bring in two RINOs and one true conservative into the GOP nomination and the only conservative would be forced to accept a VP position under one of the two big and one world government RINOs Romney or Perry.

If either Perry or Romney get the nod, Obama will win again. Conservatives, real conservatives, will never vote for the RINOs again. They've learned their lesson of what got us to the point where socialists like Romney, Perry and Pawlenty run under the GOP umbrella.

My family and it is a rather large family all agree we will write in a conservative and let Obama go down with the ship rather than endorse the socialists to take us down. We're ashamed we voted for big government G. W. Bush and it will never happen again on out backs.

What does it profit a man who gains the world but loses his soul.
