More votes for Perry than Palin in Iowa Straw Poll

Posted on 08/13/2011 5:35:56 PM PDT by Minus_The_Bear

Rick Perry who just announced his candidacy received more votes than Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich.

How much longer can Palin just drive around the country not doing much of anything and still expect to run for POTUS?

A potential candidate without the organization to even manage 100 write in votes looks really really bad.

Sorry but that won’t fly.

Her grassroots already decided weeks ago that Ames is fundamentally unimportant to our goals. In fact, we’ve squashed several attempts for an organized write-in. While we didn’t prevent individuals from writing her in, we’ve sent pretty clear signals to not organize for it.

While we understand its importance as a fundraiser for the local GOP, we don’t want to play those political games for what would essentially be an unimportant win.

Ames is only important for 2nd and 3rd tier campaigns, in order to keep them in the game. Why else do you think T-Paw spent so much on it?

Because mindless Palinbots

OIC... this isn't really a post about Perry or Palin. It's about your PDS and issues with Palin supporters. Nice.

Everybody loves to make a fracus out of the Iowa polls which are nothing more than who totes in the most supporters and pays their way. It’s just a psych job.

The only good it does is let the people at the state fair meet the candidates personally. We’re still months from the primaries and over a year to the election.

Sarah Palin will announce if and when she’s good and ready. She made her appearance and met the Iowans. That was the sole purpose of her appearance this weekend. And maybe just to stir some **** with the media.

As for all the attempts to latch the RINO title on Rick Perry, I’m just sitting here and laughing at that krap.

No, Bachmann winning wasn’t a huge surprise. People suspected it would be her or Ron Paul. But I have to think that little little stroll Palin did the other day was meant to do more then attract media attention. I hope no one expects me to believe her team wasn’t hoping her presence would cause a surge of write in’s in her favor.

Neither she or Perry or even Romney went all in to win this poll but each of them in their own way paid some attention to it. Mitt with the debate. Palin showing in person. Perry supporters “unofficially” encouraging write in’s.

Yesterday the news reported that they were trying to get write ins.

Yes, this was the first time write-ins were allowed. Also, I needed to show an ID to vote in the poll, but I do not need an ID to vote in the election.

You use the term "PDS" so yeah... you are a Palinbot.

Will you vote for anyone but Palin?

Will you sit out the election and reelect Obama?

On purpose or not, she’s also drawing fire that would otherwise be aimed at Bachman and others. I suspect it’s on purpose, but I have nothing to base it on.

“So, how is Palin going to beat the RINO Perry?

Why is Palin just riding around the country is a bus instead of working to be elected?”

Let me help you out. Perry announced today, so the pack is probably complete. Governor Palin is far ahead of the pack alresdy, due to her stature as Vice-Presidential candidate on the last Republican ticket and due to the fact she has put herself out there for two years, getting Tea Party Congressmen and other Republicans such as Rick Perry himself re-elected. Governor Palin is the de-facto head of the conservative wing of the Republican Party, so she needs at this time to keep herself at a distance from the pack.

As for your second question: it does not even merit an answer because it is not even a serious question.

Bachmann is a Palin placeholder for many voters at this time.

I agree to some extent, but this becomes less and less true the longer Palin stays out. Bachmann is no pushover and is developing a real following of her own out of some of those people that once may have viewed her as a placeholder. Bachmann campaigns hard, stays on message and is effective.

I don't think it matters because I no longer believe Governor Palin is running. If she were, I think she would have announced in time to participate in this event since it was entirely winnable for her.

Then why spend the time posting an empty vanity about it?

Because mindless Palinbots seem to think that you can just win a Presidential election without any work. This type of thinking lost us 2008.

You're mindless response didn't answer the question.

You think Palin isn't running.

You think Palin isn't doing any preparation.

So why on earth does it matter to you that a person who isn't doing any preparation isn't running?

Why are you spending so much time on a person who isn't running, when you could be spending time either supporting or criticizing somebody who is running?

It's your "brilliant" vanity. Answer the questions without getting so defensive.

Do you realize that then former Governor Ronald Reagan waited until November 13, 1979 to declare for the 1980 race for president? That was before Facebook, Twitter, the 24/7 cable news cycle and bloggers. Remind me how that turned out.

The day she enters the race will be Hurricane Katrina, the two recent tsunamis, the San Francisco earthquake and an atom bomb all combined. There’ll be heads exploding in the press, the Beltway, White House, the nutroots, Hollywood, the DNC, the RNC and here, as well.
