EUREKA, Ill. -- Sarah Palin told NBC News that Rep. Michele Bachmann winning the straw poll will not affect her decision to run or not, calling her win "not much of a surprise."
"It is not much of a surprise," Palin told NBC News. "I think, at this point, it is more of a test of organization. ... The prediction was that it would either be Ron Paul or Michele Bachmann, because they spent a lot of time and energy to make sure they had delegates there who would cast those votes

And money. Cain spent more time there than both Paul and Bachmann, but they spent millions, he spent $100k. They bought 6000 tickets, he did not buy votes. They had radio and TV ads, he did not.
His is all grassroots.
Also poor Mittens..he came in what, 4th place..I was expecting him to win since everyone considers him the “Frontrunner” even though he is a liberal RINO..but it was still surprising to see him lose

Romney wasn’t there and didn’t even have a tent space/booth there. So why would you expect him to win?
Oh well I did not know about the tent thing, but I thought that since everyone considered him a frontrunner that he would win the straw poll, but I Guess after he did so poorly at the debate people did not vote for him.
He did win in 07... That seems ominous in and of itself. Good riddance!
Even if Cain doesn’t make the top four...his ‘political investment’ has put him on the scene so Americans fully know about him...as well as politicians....good move on his part no matter the outcome. We won’t be seeing the end of Cain no matter how this plays out.
Who are the people that cast ballots in the Iowa straw poll? What are their “demographics” or other indicators of probable general viewpoint or political bent?
HAHA yeah, let’s hope he drops out of the race, I dont see it happening though, his ego is too big, but if he loses NH or SC he is finished.
Romney wasn’t even at the event in Ames today. Only six of the announced candidates were there, had booths and made a speech to the attendees today. Yes he did participate in the Fox debate a couple days ago.

the liberal scumbags appear to be quite unnerved over the implications of her victory. I love it. I would love to see President Bachmann. Democrats would be hanging themselves in despair especially after she forces them to attend heterosexuality training camps. LOL
my understanding is middle-age evangelicals for the most part were voting....but the straw poll is really meaningless because first of all its all about bribing people to vote with food, entertainment etc....(lets see who they vote for without the food and prizes in the caucus) and second of all, these voters are not 100% committed to one candidate, they will jump ship possibly as things start to shift later on and other candidates drop out.

Every single thing you list in your post just makes me wonder why Iowa has such a say in presidential politics. Or any kind of politics for that matter... everyone is quick to quip that we should sell California off to pay down our debts to China but I could think of a few other places to start.
