before you use words like worthless...with all due respect

they indicate the nominee from 63-75% of the time last 8 election cycles for the GOP-Dems respectively

they are not worthless

but they are not ironclad...I wonder how they compare to Dixville Notch as an indicator of each party’s nominee?

(looking it up.....)

much much higher rate of predicting eventual nominee

still hardly Carnack...but can weed the outliers down

I’m just happy a social conservative won and has been leading polls ...it’s only been 27 years

She was asked a question about it. She didn’t volunteer it out of the blue and unless you heard her you can’t really say whether it was tacky or not. You’d first have to know the actual question (and the tone of Palin’s answer). For instance, “Were you surprised at Michelle Bachmann’s win?” and “No I wasn’t surprised” is pretty innocuous.

Were she to not answer the question someone would be making hay out of that as well. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

I just watched video of the debate ...With the exception of Ron Paul and Herman Cain , the rest are phoney baloneys ! Not that I support either of the aforementioned , its just that the others look like they are Hollywood scripted . The American public has become Americanidolized . Maybe it takes an ex-pat like myself to see that .

Romney wasn’t there and didn’t even have a tent space/booth there. So why would you expect him to win?

I would expect him to have a chance at winning because he and his views are already well known, but that's with the assumption the voters there agreed with his views. They didn't.

Cain did buy tickets because my sister got one from him.

You're wrong about the first part, right about the second part. I do not believe people make their selections based on a candidates offer of tickets and food and bus rides. They first make their selections and then accept the offers from the candidates.

Some don't even care who gives them a free ticket. There are other groups making free tickets available. Strong America Now called my home offering me a free ticket.

Of course, there will be shifts, especially after some begin to drop out.

He may have been as low as seventh. Romney can’t feel good about the results of the Straw Poll.

Free tickets were available all over the place, it wasn't limited to candidates, groups also offered them.

I believe there is very little reflection on a candidates' votes and what they offered to voters. When everyone is offering them, then there is little loyalty to a candidate because they offered a free ticket.

Folks make their selections and then get the tickets.

....calling MB to congratulate her is a lot classier than telling some MSM reporter that MB’s win was no big surprise (which it wasn’t). Sorry, but that’s just tacky.

Who said Mitt calling MB to congratulate her wasn't classy? I didn't.

Who immediately seized upon the oppportunity to offer an opinion about Gov. Palin's "tackiness". You did.

Lighten up...LOL.

It is ridiculous for people to say Sarah's statement was tacky, IF you read Sarah's whole statement. Lots of lame stream media wannabees on this thread.

What I mean by bribe is more of getting them out there more than just going to the fair or something

Pretty much. It’s a fundraiser for the Iowa Republican Party. And just because you eat at Bachmann’s tent because you like barbeque, for example, doesn’t mean you can’t vote for the guy that’s serving hot dogs and hamburgers (and no, I don’t have a clue who was serving what).

Yes a cat fight would get people off message and the only cat who would benefit would be Bachmann, INITIALLY. “Bachmann was first in and now is being attacked by that mean Sarah, Sarah is jealous of the Queen of the Tea Party, see women really aren’t suited for office, etc.” In the end, Bachmann would be easier to destroy than Palin, and everyone knows this. BIG mistake if Bachmann goes this route.

To those who thought Sarah was tacky, or the results are/were meaningless, take a chill pill, and sip on your coffee for a few while I explain (from a media standpoint):

First of all, all the other candidates in Iowa must have either been shocked or relieved when they realized NO media was near them for a time at the fair. That's when Sarah Palin showed up. You can see in the video she was mobbed by MEDIA. The crowd was in the next tier and was reported to be huge.

Second, Palin was not critical on ANY of the candidates, in fact gave them all cudos for a healthy debate, and yes - DID defend the Tea Party folks against all the insults over the past two weeks. I especially liked it when she laughed at the CNN reporter who claimed the current White House occupant was vetted more than any other candidate, and when the media who was mobbing HER asked if SHE was being a distraction. You can't make this stuff up.

But here's the key I think too many people are missing:

The straw poll winners were Bachmann with Paul second. That's got Tea Party written all over it. If you recall, the Iowa straw poll was talked up all week by the talking heads. Now, on hand "The results are meaningless", and on the other: "It shows the Tea Party has taken over the GOP". So, which is it? we can't have both.

Spin it how every you want, but after watching the Tea Party become the new Bin Landen earlier in the week, I've seen some Tea Party swagger since Thursday. From Bachmann and most other candidates on stage in the debate, to Palin at the fair, I didn't see the tea party on the defensive. In fact when they finally got to Palin's turn in Thursday's debate to answer questions (that was the media mob at the fair - go checkout the video), she did a pretty good job speaking up for a) the GOP, b) the Tea Party and c) herself. Any one wanna dispute that?

Despite what the media morons say, the Tea Party - at least for this Sunday spin cycle - looks pretty good right now. And the way I see it, it's the Dems mumbling about a new candidate for president (which I'm still betting on), and the RINO GOP searching for new talking points.

Good Job, Tea Party. So, when's the next march on Washington?

Thanks Bigtigermike.
The prediction was that it would either be Ron Paul or Michele Bachmann, because they spent a lot of time and energy to make sure they had delegates there who would cast those votes

Sean Hannity said that Herman Cain did not spend a penny and he came in 5th Place. I was really impressed with Rick Santorum coming in in the Top 4. I think when Ron Paul and T-Paw are gone, he’ll move up even more. I discount Ron Paul as a viable candidate and consider Rick Santorum to actually have come in 3rd place. But, T-Paw will soon be history so, Rick moves up a little more.

Poor Newt; people just don’t like the guy. (Plus, his wife looks scary.)
