Did Perry Even Vote For Reagan?

Posted on 08/15/2011 5:41:08 PM PDT by Minus_The_Bear

Rick Perry was a Democrat until Karl Rove convinced him to switch parties and run as a Republican against Jim Hightower for Agriculture Commissioner.

Perry is always mentioning Reagan... But no Yellow-Dog Texas Democrat who was a chairman for Al Gore in 1988 would have voted for Reagan. Some Democrats would have... but not a leading member of the Texas party.

Perry is just too slick. He is not conservative at all.

The bottom line:

I will vote for Perry, Palin, Bachman, Romney, or Mickey Mouse vs obama.

I will not stay home because my perfect candidate isn't on the ballot. I would walk several miles to the polls, if I had to, to vote against obama.

Darlin’, I was born when Herbert Hoover was President. I have had a deep interest in the workings of my beloved country for a long, long time.

I suppose this is where some jerk points out to the absolutists that Reagan voted for FDR, probably all four times. But we shouldn’t vote for anyone who was ever a Democrat.

We probably also shouldn’t mention that Algore was pretending to be prolife back then.

It won’t be. Iowa will be her high point. Don’t get me wrong, I like her and would vote for her, but I don’t believe she can win the primary.

Thank you...

I know a few democrats who literally drive me nuts. One woman recently told me she agreed with ‘everything’ obama said in a recent speech.

Obama has to go.

I just find it fascinating all the similarities with Reagan and Perry.

We may know what the Great Depression was like soon enough if we don’t get rid of Obama.

FRAUD will be how obama plans to win. Phila always votes over 100% for democrat presidents.

I would say he did not and would bet he would not today. Completely different people, Reagan was a successful man before he went into politics. Perry has slopped at the public trough his whole life.

Something Perry shares in common with Slick Willard. BOTH never voted for Reagan.

Reagan and most of America having voted for FDR in a long distant pre WWII, pre Cold War history, is no reason for being a democrat after the 1960s and Vietnam and JFK and LBJ, Roe v Wade, Jimmy Carter and the dismantling of the CIA, and the anti-military shift of the Democrats and the Reagan Revolution, and supporting Al Gore against Reagan’s veep in 1988.

That is why Reagan supported and campaigned only for Republican Presidential candidates starting in the 1952 election.

Were you confused about the Democrat Party in 1988? Does anyone here really think that Perry secretly voted for Reagan just as he himself was signing up to become a leader within the Democrat Party, and then in 1988 going back to fighting to elect Al Gore and his 9 ACU rating to defeat Reagan’s veep?

Slopped at the public trough all his life? The Texas legislature meets every two years. Do you think he sat around? He was a farmer. He farmed. He raised wheat and cotton and cows. He drove John Deere tractors and went to church on Sundays. But then for some pretentious people, farming isn’t a business. It isn’t a job. It isn’t work. His experience in farming and the farming community is what got him elected as the Texas Agricultural Commissioner in Austin — his first full-time government job. He beat the long-time incumbent Democrat like a drum. It was awesome.

Yes, and IMO he’s the establishment’s “tea party” pick to take on Romney in the republican primary- lesson learned: they’re scared to death of Michelle Bachmann!

Another piece of smoke screen that matters NOT AT ALL...no he didn't vote for Reagan...ask him he'll tell you...my precious Army Major MI Officer voted 2 times for clintoon...what does that matter...he would never TODAY vote any way but Republican...between my daughter and myself we taught him better...he saw the light as did Perry.

You can bring as much negative as you want...IT DOES NOT MATTER...Rick Perry has a record for jobs and the economy...BOTTOM LINE...that is ALL Americans care about...everything else is all smoke and mirrors....

It isn’t fear of Bachmann. It’s dread. They don’t think she can beat Obama. Neither do I.

I can’t believe how some around here are drinking the Perry koolaid. He is slick and I won’t support him as long as there are other good contenders out there.
