A careful audit of combat support and reconstruction contracts reveals that at least $360 million in US tax dollars has gone to fund the Taliban and terrorist operations in Afghanistan. Corrupt contractors and subcontractors are responsible for the diversion of funds which have surely resulted in harm to soldiers and civilians throughout the region.
LOS ANGELES (Catholic Online) - The losses demonstrate one of the challenges the US faces in Afghanistan, specifically, rampant corruption. Private Afghan corporations are providing many support services to the US and NATO forces and are collecting payments from the military for their services. However, the audit has revealed monies flowing to nonexistent entities, and into the hands of corrupt officials and terrorists.
The review was started last year by a special task force organized by Gen. David Petraeus. The task force was asked to look into the connections that many Afghan companies had with subcontractors and criminals. The investigation revealed a process they refer to as, "reverse money laundering" in which legitimate payments are paid to contractors and diverted to subcontractors who in turn, garnish the funds and give money to terrorists or other "malign actors" as the US military refers to them.
These malign actors include the Taliban, responsible for countless attacks on American and other international personnel as well as civilians. While the overall sum of monies under review was $31 billion, the $360 million that has gone to terrorists is quite significant. Terrorist operations in Afghanistan are very low-tech and very cheap. It costs very little to conduct operations, so the $360 million is enough to finance large-scale terrorist operations.

We need to return to the pre-1950 concept of what the military is for:
1. Find the enemy.
2. Kill them.
3. Go home.
The high amount of monies given to our enemies should make the news nightly. I think it goes over the heads of the average viewer most of the time, but with all the recent debt news I think the average viewer would pay more attention to the high amounts given to our enemies and speak up. If we could pull a few of them from the oblunder voters it might help.
Well, at least it wasn’t wasted on Americans who have exhausted their unemployment benefits.

There is an assumption behind this statement that the US Government did not plan to fund these groups in the first place.
This is like giving money to Hitler to destroy the world. The United States is a self inflicted fatal wound.
I think it's ironic that police can confiscate the ill gotten gains of drug dealers, but we as a country can't confiscate the ill gotten gains of evil nations. Put the profit back into war, and things will straighten themselves out pronto.

I look at these stories and get madder at the Republicans that are supposed to be on guard for crap like this. Just goes to show that many of them are just as, if not more corrupt than the Dems (who I ‘expect’ to work against America).
Shows how few in the media really care about our country when things like this aren’t front page news.
Would this not be a gravy train for some people.
