(CNN) -- This week in Germantown, Maryland, it took less than a minute for a flash mob of teenagers to descend on a 7-Eleven, ransack shelves and make off with hundreds of dollars worth of stuff.
It's going to take much longer for police in Montgomery County to figure out how to prevent it from happening again.

I don’t think this will be a tough problem to fix.
All that needs to be done is for the cell phone companies to keep a log on texts sent. The police could trace all the texts and work backwards to find out who the instigators are.
Get a can of bear spray and a gas mask then spray away.
That had to be a wonderful sight.
Two ways to prevent it: one, allow clerks to shoot to kill when descended upon by such people. Two, when you capture any of them, a public caning followed by a salt water washdown of the caned area. Three, cane the parents.
Of course if this is the Baraqqis practicing for Nov 2012, Eric Holder might not be of much help here.....
Unless the calls are coming across interstate, it’s something the local police could handle it.
They don’t use texts, they use facebook and twitter on their phones. That much at least has been established in PA. A tweet can go hundreds, and you only have 30 in the store. See the problem?
The police need to encourage shop owners to exercise thier Second Ammendment Rights, and to offer training programs for those who do.
I’m sure it could be done. The real problem is that we don’t live in the CSI fairyland where budgets and resources are unlimited. How many man hours would it take it to cull 30 suspects off the internet? I have no idea, but I’m betting it’s expensive.
True, but I bet local vendors along with families might be willing to volunteer. I certainly would. Of course, that’s assuming the police allow that kind of thing.

Facebook can also trace the texts back to whomever posted it.

Oh to be young again. I loved it, I would have had a ball being involved in that.
