So you are denying that Karl Rove ever had a role
in Rick Perry’s political career?

Rove “touting”?

I think you mean: “resenting”.

.............They just don’t get it.

Or they don't want others to "get it."

Perry's appeal and message can sweep every state and they will be doing everything that they can to stop him before the country gets behind him.

Thanks! Please feel free to use it, either by copying it and saving it elsewhere, or hotlinking to it (that way you don't have to go to the trouble of saving it somewhere online yourself).

I got the basic idea from a slogan that popped into my head yesterday that's both a play on his initials and an allusion to Reagan's 1980 campaign. The slogan itself was:

Rick Perry for President: the Road to Prosperity

From that I started thinking about using highway sign imagery to come up with Perry graphics.

Here's the first one I came up with (it plays off of the color scheme for the interstate markers):

freedomfiter2 nailed it: Perry still seems to be more of a crony capitalist
than a conservative. Bush III would be as damaging as Obama round 2.

=================================================

POLS FAVE SCAM----USING TAX DOLLARS TO GET REELECTED The kind of cronyism and big government spending crap that Tea Party conservatives have been bashing politicians over.

<><> Perry's $368M dollar taxpayer-funded so-called "economic stimulus" funds have dismal track records .........and more than a few instances of fraud, waste, and abuse........but Rick's campaign coffers sure did benefit by it.

<><> The LA Times and the Austin American Statesman reported a strong correlation between Perry’s biggest campaign contributors and the money handed out by his "stimulus funds" and Perry’s other public-private partnership.

BACKSTORY The Austin paper documents the unsavory case of $80,000 Perry campaign donor, David Nance, winning a $4.5 million grant from Perry's "stimulus" program, the Texas Emerging Technology Fund. A regional board had denied the grant to Nance’s Convergen LifeSciences, but Perry intervened and ushered the grant through. Nice return on a campaign donation "investment."

In his State of the State address, Perry pushed the Legislature to create the "Texas Enterprise Fund," giving the governor, lieutenant governor and House speaker the power to hand out multimillion-dollar grants to businesses seeking to relocate to or expand within the state.

Two years later, Perry and the Legislature created another subsidy bank, called the Texas Emerging Technology Fund, using taxpayer money to invest in high-tech companies. Perry made government a venture capital fund.

Muckrakers at the Los Angeles Times and the Austin American Statesman have shown a strong correlation between Perry’s biggest campaign contributors and the money handled by these funds and Perry’s other public-private partnership.

Almost half of Perry’s “mega-donors,” according to the Times, have received profitable favors from the Texas government.

Poultry magnate Joe Sanderson, for instance, gave Perry’s campaign $165,000 and received $500,000 from the Texas Enterprise Fund to open a facility in Waco, the Times reports.

The Austin paper documents the unsavory case of $80,000 Perry donor David Nance winning a $4.5 million grant from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund. A regional board had denied the grant to Nance’s Convergen LifeSciences, but Perry intervened and ushered the grant through.

Perry's $368M dollar taxpayer ETF and TEF programs both have pretty dismal track records for meeting their intended goals and more than a few instances of fraud waste and abuse, but Rick's campaign coffers sure did benefit by it. This is the kind of cronyism, big government spending crap Tea Party conservatives have been bashing politicians over.

PERRY--THE TOLERANT AND COMPASSIONATE GOVERNOR A pattern of sucking up to Chinese, Mexicans and ACORNS, etc..........

<><> Perry focused on the Chinese companies ability to create jobs in Texas........while national security experts concluded that the global telecom giant poses a potential cyber-security risk to the US military and US businesses. Three times since 2008, a US government security panel has blocked Huawei from acquiring or partnering with US companies because of concerns that secrets could be leaked to China’s government or its military.

<><> Perry appointed former Enron de Mexico President Mario Max Yzaguirre as Texas Public Utility Commission chair in June 2001.

<><> Perry surrounded by ACORNS signed a "loose lending law" to subsidize sub-prime mortgage loans.

Countrywide Financial was a big part of Perry's Texas Enterprise Fund---
recipient of $20 million tax dollars in exchange for 7,500 jobs that failed to
materialize, as Countrywide fell apart during the sub-prime loan scandal.

The Obama campaign gave an ACORN affiliate $800,000 for a get-out-the-vote effort.

If the LA Times think Perry-Romney are important it is one more indication of how out of touch with reality it is. Romney’s flickering candle has finally been snuffed out. Perry’s attempt to hijack the GOP will sputter out as well. There is no way Tea Party conservatives will waste their vote on this fraud.

Despite the propaganda organs fervant wish for a GOP RINO “opponent”, the real contest will be between Bachmann or Palin and Onada. Either one can easily emasculate the Usurping Marxist occupying the WH.

Perry would be "culturally lacking" in general-election appeal

Remember when poor minorities were called "culturally deprived"? The PC types have evidently turned that phrase upside down--much as they did our culture itself.

So you are denying that Karl Rove ever had a role

Once.

In 1989 (22 years ago) Rove backed Perry (new "R" -- long time conservative democrat "pit bull" who Phil Gramm had recruited, along with other conservatives, to join him on the right side of the aisle) against a Democrat for Agricultural Commission. That was the first and last time Rove worked FOR Perry.

In Perry's 1998 run for Texas Lt. Gov., he and his team had to fight off Rove's suggestion that they should soft peddle to win (Rove was trying to get Bush re-elected and on to his White House run and wanted to widen his voting base). Perry did it his way - campaigning hard against a popular Democratic Party state politician and won the seat. Rick Perry became the first Republican Lt. Gov of Texas since reconstruction.

In 2010: Perry's 2nd re-election campaign (for his 3rd term as governor, as he became Texas gov when G.W.B moved to the WH in 2000), Karl Rove and most of the Bush machine worked on Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison's primary challenge against Perry.

Despite all the money behind Hutchison ($14 million), Rick Perry took the primary and then went on to beat Democrat Bill White (who had $25 million in his war chest -- a majority from trial lawyers).

Perry had a total of $38 million to defend his office against those 2010 opponents (not bad money and not Rove money). Perry won with no major news outlet endorsement and without debating his opponent.

Rick Perry won because the people of Texas wanted Rick Perry running the state. And as soon as the country learns about Rick Perry and sees him campaign and knows his positions about the direction he sees for the country, they will put him in the White House.

There's no denying the physical similarities between these two men. I actually think Rick Perry looks like Josh Brolin's George Bush in the Oliver Stone film "W". And when you close your eyes and listen to Perry speak, yes, his voice does sound uncannily like Bush's.

I don't yet know if this is going to be a liability for Perry. There's still a lot of hard feelings towards Bush, even among Republicans but voters may remember having jobs and paying $1.90 for gas throughout most of the Bush years.

“For this group of voters, issues take a back seat to charisma and likability. This is the group of voters who decide elections. Every single time.”

Image and personality are so very important. Better or worse. Like it or not. Clinton won over Bush because to millions (mostly women0 saw him as more fun, charismatic, cool, youthful, sexy, whatever. Last go around Obama had it all over McCain in this arena. McCain was old and gray and light years away from cool. Obama (whom I totally detest) came across as cool and youthful. Game over.
Perry has it all over Romney in this paradigm. Perry comes across as much more earthy, manly, youthful, dynamic. Unfortunately most people are all not that rational.

Perry's supporters are being trained to say: "Texans have watched Perry blitz a campaign, and in the past it has been a prelude to a long, entertaining campaign and ultimate victory....(in Texas)."

The dont understand that this ain't Texas. Most Americans are put off by the way Perry swaggered into Iowa. All of the candidates---except Perry---respected Iowa's role in the presidential race. All the candidates--except Perry--- put a lot of time, money and hard work in the state---and debated the issues---so that Iowa and Americans could gauge their viability.

Perry's calculated strategy was to manipulate the process from afar, and on the day of the Iowa caucuses, he announced he was a candidate.

That move was supposed to put him over the top--- but it didn't. He finished a distant fifth or sixth (depending on whether you count Romney who was also a no-show). Perry got some 700 votes (the Iowa winners got over 4000 votes). How much each vote cost Perry is still unknown.

However, Perry's strategy included "declaring himself the winner" no matter what his showing. Thus we saw pictures of Perry swaggering in front of Iowa signs, congratulating himself on "winning."

That may fly in Texas--- but it's no way to run for the presidency.

========================================

His supporters keep saying "Iowa doesn't matter," evidencing their complete contempt for US laws, amendments, our constitution, etc.

This a Big Clue that The Pukeneos are pimpimg Perry---they have their own sub rosa agenda which they keep close to their vest...they will not reveal it under any circumstances. Trust me, it has nothing to do with domestic concerns of US voters.

Is Palin a liar and a deceiver like you? Has she purposely sent her followers out to cyberworld to spread lies and innuendo. I wouldn't have taken that as her style but what do I know, she is a half term Governor of a state 1/4 the size of Houston. Her state? The 3rd largest receiver of federal welfare and a proponent of taxing job creators and “sharing” that wealth with the people.

"Herstory" as you have called it, has not yet been vetted, only her clothes, her family and talking style. Wait until they get to her actual policy. I am sure Perry is on it as we speak.

Your post reminded me of something that happened last week at work. Now I’ve been talking about Gov Perry there for over a month now, and the few that I’ve discussed him with, don’t know much about him as he hasn’t been out in the public eye much until last week.

Anyhow, I went into work on Monday and one of the women came into my office and said “now I know why you like Perry so much”. I was happy she did some research during the weekend so I asked her why and she said “because he is very good looking”. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.........I suppose that’s the case, but that’s not why he has my vote, but I’m glad you took some time to watch him over the weekend. :-p. This is one of the undecided’s mind you. The undecided’s live different lives than those of us who are politically active and I was reminded of that. Some of them put more decision into who they will vote for during American Idol than they do for the presidency of the United States which is saying a lot, but not in a good way.

Wow, look at all the Perry derangement trolls on the boards backing up an article by the LASlimes! IT’S AMAZING! Supposedly conservatives toting this bucket of lies around and presenting it like the truth.

What do we need democratic propaganda and lies for when conservatives are doing their job for them!

1) Like it or not (and, as a Palin fan, I have to deal with a lot of things I don’t like), “Texas” will be made a HUGE negative in the campaign. The Bush disaster is what Obama and his handlers want to run against. Perry, fairly or unfairly, hands them this on a silver platter.

2) Perry and Romney are more alike than dissimilar. Both are running on the premise that a dying system can be revived, if only THEY are running it. Rather than agitating for “hope and change”, they are trying to assure conservatives that it all can work, when it can’t.

3) This election will be more like 1860 than anything else. The old ways are dying and cannot be preserved. Perry’s appeal to conservatives is an illusion - we will either move towards a global citizenship and a global currency, or smash globalism once and for all and restore the American economy and real, constitutional money. I have no doubt that Perry is a globalist, until he convinces me otherwise.
